From a 22 oz bottle with No. 012 on the front, this poured a very deep garnet color with a rich foamy off-white head with big bubbles that left virtually no lacing. Nose of caramel malts, grassy hops, and a hint of bourbon. Rich and almost oily mouthfeel. Flavor is dominated by by the rich malts, and the bourbon becomes more apparent but is still subtle. Great bitter hop finish. I drank this at cellar temperature - 55 degrees) and unlike most other raters I personally liked this one a lot.

Bomber courtesy of hopdog. Pours a murky swamp water brown with one finger tan head and crazy lacing. Nose is bourbon, dark fruits, caramel and brown sugar. Taste is bourbon, wood, raisins, caramelized sugar and a hoppy bitter finish which cuts the sweetness nicely. Medium mouth feel. Decent BW. Thanks Steve!

Bottle, Thanks to Bu11zeye. Pours a Deep hazy amber with beige head. Aroma of slight citris, some dark fruit and bourbon. Flavor of bourbon, wood, dark fruit, sweet malt, and has a nice little bitter. Has a medium-full body with medium carbonation. Very good.

Shared at Cornboys Barley Wine Blind. Pours a super light brown with a soapy loking white head, a fairly far departure from the other BW appearances. Aroma is all sulfur, yuck. Top of the bad aroma with a thin watery body and tons of sulfur in the flavor. Wow we have a contender for worst barley wine.

22 oz. bottle & draft - dark amber with slight haze and quickly fading white head; great nose mix of sweet sugar and malts; chewy texture and has a fruity/hoppy kick to it; more relaxed on draft as the bottle’s freshness is in your face a little; not your standard BW, but i find this delicious; harsh ratings be damned, this is a great beer

Pours ruddy brown with no head. The nose is subtle fruits and caramel. A hint of bourbon. The flavor is the same, with the bourbon being way too subtle. Decent, but not as good as hoped.

[Vintage 2007] Tap @ Barleywine and Big Beer Fest... Poured a dark amber with a thick beige head. Aroma of fermented sugars and dark malts. The bourbon barrel aging seemed to not have phased it. Still a tiny earthy hop character with sweet, syrupy sugars. And the alcohol had a lingering aspect. The sweet malts aided with the balancing.

Pours a murky dark brown with amber highlights. Big alcoholic nose with some spicy hops, citrus, cookie dough and caramel. Lots of sweet candied fruits on the palate, dates and brown sugar as well. Bourbon notes are very light but become more apparent as it warms. Decent and easy drinking, but does not really come across as a barleywine, more of a hopped up hybrid IIPA
