Small, crispy, off-white head that fades quick and leaves just a hint of lace. Smells hoppy with a bit of fresh wood. Tastes hoppy and a bit spicy with some wood flavors and no bourbon flavors to speak of. Medium body, crisp carb. However they barrel aged it, they should have done it longer. ditmier (1110), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 15, 2009 2008 Bottle #12 - Pours a beautiful ambery brown, slight off-white head, Brown sugar dominates the aroma, tastes of dried fruit, Redman and booze. There is a definite alcohol presence, but isn’t the burn that alot of other fortified brews have. Pleasant bitterness balanced with a malty goodness, I will drink this again... Pours a caramel apple color, with a thin watery head, and decent lacing. Slight booze in the aroma, with molasses and brown sugar. Decent amount of hops. Grainy flavor, fair amount of malts. Hops are subdued, and there’s a slight tartness. Bourbon? Nah. Sticky, medium-body. Flavor is lacking overall. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Malty anroma with caramel and light wood notes. The taste was the same and NO bvourbon and sweet woody notes in the finish. Not bad, but it feels like false advertising. Capa (991), Yokosuka, Japan

Fresh, bright fruits, hops, malty, and very little, if any, of the bourbon in the aroma. >oads of fresh fruit in the flavor. Oranges, citrus, alcohol, sweet malts, with no real bourbon flavor, either. Smooth, full body. Lightly bitter. Very nice beer even though I can’t pick up much bourbon. Regardless, I’d drink it again. jimbowood (956), Athens, Georgia, USA
