Aroma – Huge woody aroma, tons of malt and lots of fruit in the nose.
Appearance – Dark Amber in color, little to no head and clear.
Flavor – Woody, malty and huge barley wine flavor. Fruit essence in the flavor also.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, great texture with a dry finish.
Overall – This was a great beer for the day. Super woody this beer ages well. The Bourbon was subtle as the fruit and wood flavors where much stronger. A great winter warmer for sure.

Taste sour cherries, alcohol, hops. as much a bourbon as a beer, the melding of alcohol sting with hop sting. the grain presence more bourbonic, but the hops just wont let any sweet through cept a hint of vanilla. clear mahogany with hints of garnet; negligible head. The aroma is a bit bourbony to go along with pine, malt sweetness and fresh wood. The taste has yummy rich sweet malt notes mixing with wood, a couple of dashes of vanilla and a moderate thick layer of caramel. Pretty damn good stuff. TampaBrew (824), Tampa, Florida, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 31, 2008 Pours a murky dark brown with amber highlights. Big alcoholic nose with some spicy hops, citrus, cookie dough and caramel. Lots of sweet candied fruits on the palate, dates and brown sugar as well. Bourbon notes are very light but become more apparent as it warms. Decent and easy drinking, but does not really come across as a barleywine, more of a hopped up hybrid IIPA cflores (6), USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2008 High fruit content due to the choice of quality hops. The vanilla and alch content derive from the aging in burban oak. a long body that ballences well with the full fruit hop that lingers for with a nice caramel ending. rather enjoyable for an american barley wine. Taste of oak, malt sweetness, didn’t pick up much bourbon in taste. Poured golden copper hue color with small bubbly head. Pallet was low-medium. MrBeerFanatic (359), jamestown, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 5, 2008 Pours a darkish brown lightly cloudy with a off white head. Has the aroma of sweet hops a little alcohol and a hint of caramel. The flavor here is much like an IPA with flavors of hops but also a hint of caramel and the alcohol/bourbon does make it self known and almost to the point of overwhelming but not quite. Very bitter finish and semi sweet with a syrupy mouth feel that is rich. Somewhat complex and pretty balanced.
