Aroma is thick with caramel sweetness and hints of vanilla. Flavor is moderate on caramel, light toffee, some oak aged notes, and light citrus hops. Very mellow bw. I’d been wanting to try this for a while, thanks to Jordan for packing this home from Seattle! graham515 (430), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 26, 2008 Pours copper into the glass with an orange tinge. Aroma is very tart and the bourbon aging is quite apparent. Flavor has a lot of warmth from the alcohol and has a great bourbon finish to it. Pretty smooth and enjoyable. Poured a deep garnet-brown color with a moderate beige head that faded to a layer that left a bit of spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet malts with some light caramel and some moderate fruitiness including some red apple and light plum, a hint of spicy bourbon and oak with a soft vanilla character. Lightly spicy, smooth entry leads into a caramel maltiness transitions into a moderate bourbon spiciness with some hints of vanilla and finishes with a moderate earthy hoppiness. Full on the palate with moderate carbonation and a nice oak bite. doubleo (1121), San Diego, California, USA

Small, crispy, off-white head that fades quick and leaves just a hint of lace. Smells hoppy with a bit of fresh wood. Tastes hoppy and a bit spicy with some wood flavors and no bourbon flavors to speak of. Medium body, crisp carb. However they barrel aged it, they should have done it longer. apshah99 (145), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 22, 2008 Dark amber in color with thin bubbly light tan head. Hoppy aroma with barley and alcohol. Tastes of caramel and dark ripe fruit with aged oak and a bitter hoppy finish; I didn’t find much bourbon anywhere. Nice carbonation on the palate. Good, but I was expecting more. It is pretty reasonably priced though. AmEricanbrew (1907), Wynot, Wyoming, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 24, 2008 Nice clear garnet color with a thin head. First smell is grassy hops with a whiff of wood. Medium body and smooth. Taste is more winter warmer to than barleywine, with spicy malts and yeast, barely a hint of the barrel aging in the flavor. ryan (1780), Beltsville, Maryland, USA
