href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>DarkElf, thanks Stephen. Deep ruby in colour, large long lasting beige head, some lacing. The aroma is wonderfully balanced between the floral hops and caramel malt sweetness, very sugary, light pine. The flavour is a big letdown, light toffee sweetness, some earth, hardly any hops. Thin watery mouthfeel, light body, medium carbonation. The finishes picks up what the flavour couldn’t with a nice lingering bitterness. The finish saved this one. SRAorion (19), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 22, 2006 Pours amber with a light head no lacing. Aroma is small sweet (peppermint) cloves and spices. Very watery with a mellow sweetness minty spicy with a hint of apple and cinnamon. Too watery it like it attempts all this great ideas for flavor and fails at each one. footbalm (1219), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Spicy and yet had a good amount of what tasted like caramel tossed in. Not a bad brew at all. after4ever (2831), Brier, Washington, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 17, 2006 This is a nice clean straight ahead ale. I wouldn’t really even rate it as an English strong--it’s not very rich or complex, and it’s fairly thin for that style. All that said, it’s tasty and very drinkable. It pours dark amber with a big three-finger tan head that dissipates. The attack is tart, even a bit to the cherry. Very little finish. Compare it even to some of the more adventurous ambers and it comes up a little tame--hard to knock such an agreeable beer though. Malakin (465), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 4, 2006 This beer offers an aroma consisting of hops, malt, and freshly cut cherry wood. It is a copper colored solution with a thick cream colored head. This carbonated beer offers a light crisp sensation as it smoothly glides over the tongue. The mildly sweet nutty taste fades slowly. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 22, 2006 Subdued aroma for the style. Mostly caramel, some dried fruit. Good rubyish dark color with not much head to speak of. Nondescript mouthfeel, sweetish flavor, aroma and flavor very similar - no surprises. Bready malts with no layers of complexity.
