| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 16, 2005 Sweet and Fruity is definatly a great way to describe this ale. It smells like peaches, and the taste continues the peachy trend. This is one of my first ales from Bridgeport and I was fairly impressed. Nothing too exciting, but it’s definatly a great beer to sit around a fire and relax with! What a pleasure! DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 10, 2005 (12 oz bottle: BevMo in La Jolla, CA) Sweet, fruity (peaches!), floral and lightly perfumy suggests to me that a nice fruit beer is coming my way. Except that this is supposed to be a winter beer! I swear it smells just like peach Jello. There’s hardly any malt or hops, and no roast at all, just peach Jello. With my expectations now diministed, I’m prepared for mediocrity. Well, it’s not a fruit beer, of course, but it’s pretty light for a winter. Lightly roasted malts, moderate sweetness, some spiciness and floral hops are the focal points here. The beer shows a nice balance, but the flavor leaves me wanting and the palate is somewhat thin and watery. The color is a ruddy brown, fairly dark, but not quite mahogany. Large tan head shows excellent retention, taking many minutes to settle down to even a quarter inch in height. The intricate lace pattern looks like it was dabbed on with a sponge, if you know what I mean. Other than being a pretty beer, this is just passable for a dark winter seasonal. krisbierjaeger (844), dolores, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 5, 2005 nice little whitman sampler chocolate cherry soda here, a nice warming tumbler colored like burnt cedar red and beaver-tooth yellow. the head is a tortilla thin plain beige, but a beige way more charming than the conservative tan blah of houses in the american suburbs. nose suggests a cherry coke poured into cup of coffee with a twist of orange, plus fruit cake gelled citrus, hard candies, a bit of cinnamon roll. sweet, with dark ginger and raisin cake malts, a lively spritz of carbonation, given to softening with a little patience. the bitterness insists on not being overlooked, it has citrus oils seemingly giving it uumph. medium and pleasant, ol’ ebenezer scrouge likely lightened up a bit after a couple pints of this-- i know i did.
