pours a very pretty ruby/amber, with a dense tan head. aroma is richly malty, with roast and caramel notes, and a nice wif of piney hops on top. flavor is juicy-a nice full malty/toffee flavor with enough bitterness to balance. very nice mouthfeel and consequent drinkability. so far, one of the best domestic x-mas beers.

Bottle pours dark cherry, light brown hues, medium sized of-white foamy head, fairly nice lacing, with light carbonation.   Aroma of evergreen trees and slightly burnt spices.   Malty up front, slight sweetness in the background, with a biscuity punch.   Body and mouthfeel are fairly tame.   Finishes rather quick, bland, with only notes of unsweetened cherries and biscuity malts.   Boring...

ol’ ebenezer had an amber body witha creamy 1/4 inch head.i couldnt get much out of the aroma honestly.the flavor contained malts,a bit of hops,with an after taste full of straw hay,and christmas tress.not bad at all.

Pours a deep Tawny port color with ruby red hues, thick creamy, redddish brown head.
head dissapates slowly and leaves a thick even glass coating lace.
Aroma is fruity, hoppy, flowery.
flavor is sweet, fruity,honey, mildly acidic, mildly spicy, with a piney hop background.
finish is slightly sweet, slightly bitter, with a touch of pine on the lips.
POS on 6 pack says it is "formidable enough to temper even the crankiest of spirits". Well it worked for me, I was in a bad mood and now I’m not. lol

Copperish color with ruby hues, thin white head. Rich malty aroma with notes of plum. Earthy, pine flavors, notes of nutmeg near the finish. Moderate, hop bitterness in the finish. Light toasted notes as well.

MAlty aroma with a hint of spices. Malty with a bit of a bite. Finishes slightly sweet. A good winter brew.

Portland Holiday Ale Festival 2004. Dark brown, some ruby tint, thick lihgt brown head. Sweet bready aroma, dark rye, light spice. Sweet bready malt with honey/molasses flavour before a nice spicy hop finish.

Bottle: reddish amber with a small off-white head. Aroma: grass, leaves, berries, spicy pine, citrus. Taste: spicy yeast, grass, pepper, grains, grapefruit, hops, roasted malts. Dry finish. 3. Re-rate: On tap at Papago brewing 12/2006: Same appearance, though showing some nice fruity scents in the nose: apples, berries, strawberry, as well as expertly proportioned hops (tasting very much of the English variety to me), earthy, grassy hops that blend perfectly with the sweet fruit and some earthy caramel malts. Taste has just the right amount of sweetness in the form of caramel, cola, light chocolate malts, strawberry, blackberry, and apple/fig fruits, counterbalanced by some mild grassy/bitter, earthy & floral hops. This one is much better on tap, or it’s improved better years that I’ve tried it. Light-medium bodied, moderate carbonation. This one is so spot on for the style, it’s hard to believe it’s made by an American brewery, particularly in the hop-abused west. Well done.
