AROMA: Caramel, apple, spruce
FLAVOR: Good balance, Caramel sweetness upfront with spruce and spicey character showing up later to bring an appropriate bitterness to the mix. Aftertaste of biscuit and slight hops.
PALATE: Nice feel, a good solid beer. Not watery or thin.
OVERALL IMPRESSION: This is a beer with big flavor, but still it is smooth and drinks rather easily. I recommend this one.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 16, 2008 This is a tasty, albeit thin and restrained Winter ale. I have had this several times, and each time I think how great this would be if it was a little less thin, and perhaps maltier. At any rate, this is pretty good. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a 2 finger off white head that leaves ok lacing. Nose is sweet dark fruits, brown sugar and malt. Taste is dark fruits, toffee and some roasted malt with a touch of bitter hops in the finish. Medium mouth feel. Decent seasonal. nbutler11 (771), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 13, 2008 Dark brown pour with a big white head. I had not had this beer in several years and was very surprised to find it better than I remembered it being. Big fruit and roasty flavor with a bitter finish and some hop action towards the end as well. Quite enjoyable.
