Commercial Description:
A refreshing extra pale ale, Haymaker features a distinct blend of four malts and three varieties of hops that create a slightly complex ale with a light body and a crisp finish. Its alcohol by volume of 5.3% complements the low bitterness - 15 bittering units - and original gravity of 12.8 degrees Plato. Bright golden in color, it can best be described as "sunshine in a glass."

Aroma is a light sweet malt scent with faint citrus hop tones. Color is bright gold with good carbonation and a nice tight head. Taste is crisp and refreshing. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down with a crisp feel that has a slight bite on the end. Finish is a mild sweet malt flavor, an easy bitterness and a dry hop flavor. It end smooth with a very very faint sour note. Its a nice mellow and refreshing Pale Ale.

Bottle. Skunky aroma along with some hay, straw. Yellow body with white head. Flavor was just a medium bitterness and just like an ordinary swill beer. Left a wet corn malt on the palate, that took what was there of the refreshment of a cold one out.

Clean taste with citrus and I think a wheat almost grainy taste. The appearance had my hopes high, but the smell was absent of bold or even moderate distinguishable smells. The finish was very clean, but with very little content. The bulk of the taste was on the palet, with very little after taste.

12 oz bottle. Pours a light straw color with a slightly hazy thin white head. Sickly saccharine hop aroma with some bready malts in the background. Taste more reminiscent of a wheat than a pale. The palate is grainy and the taste is too sweet and lacks hop presence. A chalky artificial sweetness clings to the palate after comsumption. Pretty damn unpleasant.

Light gold colored pour, with a lasting bright white head. Smell is of light malty grassiness, and perhaps light hops. Not very pale ale smelling, but decent. Very light bodied, medium carbonation, and in no way resembling a pale. More like a kolsch, or a lager or something lighter and much less hopped. Taste is lightly flavored malt, but refreshing as a summer beer. Pass up if you’re looking for a true pale ale, but decent as a lawnmower.

There was just not a alot of THERE there for me. Not sure what it is that it lacks. Depth I guess. Bitterness exists, but that’s not all there is to a beer. Something rather "macro"esque about the malt profile. Or was it the yeast? Hell, it just isn’t compelling enough for me to explore. I just have to muddle my way through the next four bottles of a 6pk and decide whether or not to chance mixing it w/ something else.

12 oz bottle. .. Dk Gold/light orange. clear with white head. .. Fruity, citusry aroma with hints of apricots. Light malty flavor with tart, fruity hoppiness. .. Light body, medium carbonation, clean finish.. .. A light pale ale, a bit too fruity for my tastes, but not altogether bad. Average, perhaps?

Pale gold color--medium head. Mild aroma of sharp lemon and cereal. Not much hop detectable in the taste-kind of lemony and a bitter vegetal quality. A brief medicinal finish with a slightly sticky feel. For an APA, this kinda sucks. Surprising too , ’cause I generally like Bridgeport.
