Poured into a pint glass it produced a large dense foamy head of about 2 inches in height. A decent level of lacing is left on the glass. I poured the yeast into the glass so it was a cloudy medium gold color. The aroma is somewhat medicinal. There is a nice hop flavor with a good malt balance. The aftertaste is bitter and long lasting. brigg (216), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Mar 26, 2006 (Bottled). Hazy golden amber. Medium frothy white head that gradually disappeared. Not much of an aroma. Medium bodied. Did not have the same strong taste like other IPAs I’ve had (at this point, I have only had a few). But in general I don’t like IPAs very much, so this difference was welcome. Bitterness is only moderate. Taste of some grapefruit and maybe a hint of peach. Taste is good but not very memorable. dp (512), uniontown, Ohio, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 22, 2006 (On tap) Slightly hazy amber with a creamy, off-white head leaving some very smooth and delicate laces. Nose full of caramel and some aroma hops. Medium body with lots of fruit - some great peachy accents in particular. Hoppy - but not overly so - finish. Simple and very drinkable IPA. 210306 NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA

Aroma is oddly fruity with citrus elelments blended in...smells like a canned fruit cocktail with oranges slices added to it. Light gold/orange in color with a firm thumb thick white head that is very lasting. Fore is very grainy and cheap pale lager tasting. Hops are more chemical bitter than fresh and organic bitter. Middle is watery and the aftertaste is VERY adjunct tasting. Like warm Budweiser. OldMrCrow (1200), Seattle, Washington, USA

Pours a mildly hazy caramel gold with small particles of suspended sediment and a nice big if short-lived fluffy white head. The nose is nice upfront pine aroma of cascade hops, with a bit of rising dough and some field grass.
The flavor recalls a British IPA rather than a Pac-NW one. But not a very good British IPA -- it is a bit sour on the firts sip, and bit lacking in depth; I’m getting a lot of grainy adjunct and stewed vegetables that the hops simply can’t cover over. The hops turn metallic in the finish, and the metallic bitterness and sour vegetables linger on the tongue. The mouthfeel is watery, as if the beer has been diluted before serving.
I haven’t had one of these in a couple of years. I remember it as being a pretty nice session IPA at the price point, but today I’m really not impressed. There’s pretty strong downward trend in the ratings graph over time --- I might guess statistically significant. Could it be that this one has gone downhill over the last five years? I don’t know how else to reconcile some of the high early ratings by top raters with the mediocre beer in the glass next to me that I keep trying to find something good about. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 17, 2006 Clear, near-orange beer with medium off-white head, sligthly irregular. Unbelievable initial nose of organic decay or manure; then thankfully hops kick in, but the shock keeps simmering. Dry hopstaste, but with a fruity streak. Difficult to say what - oranges and kumquats with a dose of water and a pinch of maltsugar? Maybe a bit of nectarine as well. And hops, of course. Retronasal, however, there’s again something odd, vegetable-like or greenery. Old cut flowers’ water? I’m actually suspecting yeast autolysis... Rather light MF, not much body. OK IPA, a bit thin, overall. Plenty of better (and less shocking) samples around. Thanks to D.A.! Likeburning (149), Franklin, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 15, 2006 Poured a clear amber color with noticible particulates inside under a thick white head. The beer had a light hoppy IPA aroma with a moderate to high hoppy taste. I was told it was the hoppiest beer that the bar carried, but I was still disappointed, I wanted more hopps.
