Still on hop-accentuated beers for Round 8. Perhaps this could have used a little more malt sweetness to even out the finish, which I thought was excessively dry. Hoppy but not over-the-top. Refreshing, actually, for an IPA.

12 oz bottle at gputty’s Friday tasting. Hazy yellow with a medium off white head. Nose is not promising - sweet, floral acetone, like my wife’s scented nail polish remover. Some resiny hops hidden in there. Flavor is a tiny bit of malt and weak hops. Miniscule bitter finish. More like a weak, garden variety east coast IPA than something from Oregon. Blah.

From bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with a fluffy off white head. Light citrus hops, mostly lemon, in the nose along with a sweet malt. Flavor is a slightly bitter, with the lemon hops dominating. Crisp and refreshing.

I was wondering why the bottlecaps of my 6er of esb were different. There’s an IPA in here! Hazy goldern orange appearance. With small white head. Has a citrus aroma with a hint of cascade in it. Smooth mouthfell with orange peel, lemon, and grapefruit. Very bubbly with almost too much carbonation.

I might be more apt to classify this as an American Pale Ale but...Clean and clear pale copper. A nice shiny brass that is very pleasing to the eye. Head is not too voluminous and also not too sticky but not bad either. I like a nice head on a beer. Nose is all C-hops but in a very subdued way. The aromas really remind me of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Lots of crisp, cracked light malt with a glazed over crispy thin hop floweriness. hard to explain I know. Clean ale yeast. There is a little bit of white grape juice inthe nose as well. Flavors are nice. The malt profile on this and the clean yeast reminded me of something belgian...by clean i don’t mean not estery I mean it has a crispness to it that snaps and retains some of the great characteristics of a nice fruity ale yeast. Hops lie round and engorged but never explode (which they ought to)...white grape juice afterwards. The best part of this beer is the mouthfeel. It is just like a real ale. Like it was poured from a cask. I owuld drink this all the time just for that. Low carbonation, thick malt slimyiness. Beautiful bottle conditoined ale texture. Decent sessoin beer.

Lovely golden amber color, medium head with lacing. Nice citrus aroma and flavor. Effervescent palate, medium hop finish. Nice beer.

Full cloudy amber colored liquid with a moderate, yet stable off white head. Herbal and citric hops blend with a mild fruit and some biscuit/scone aromas. Some yeast factor weigh in the aromas. Seems a touch unclean, there are some great classic aromas that seem to move about and get lost in the big sniff. Light fruit, especially peach flavors in the quaff. Some light herbal and hops flavors also come in at the middle. Full bitterness comes in the finish and linger with a near pine pitch flavor sticking to the tongue and throat. Not sure what the age on this bottle is by I would guess it is rather young and actually could stand a few months at sea. Still a nice authentic ale.

This has got to be on of my favorite beers. A great hop aroma and flavor with great character. I love the bit of sediment in each bottle and always "swirl" it before opening, it adds extra flavor.
