Salty with some toffee. Kind of light bodied for such a big brew. Alcohol gives a burning sensation. Long bitter finish. fiulijn (7420), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 14, 2005 Vintage 2001 Amber color; creamy head. The aroma is not very rich, showing some alcohol, light malt. Malty taste, some caramel and sugars but too much alcoholic, not enough rich nor complex. Drinkable, nothing more… madsberg (5059), Søborg, Denmark
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 13, 2005 Bottled: Orange coloured. Clear. Beige small head. Alcohol is dominating the aroma. Flavour of fruit, alcohol and some grape (sourness). Very alcoholdense in the end. I really like some of the american Barley Wines, but this is pretty average and onedimensional. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2005 Dark head with off-white head. Really good smell but, I couldn’t pick anything out. Yet another I tried because of the name. Sickboy282 (1100), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 1, 2005 Updated: Aug 4, 20082003 btch #11----Pours thick, syrupy amber hue with barely any head. Aromas of rum, old hops, dust, mmmmm I just got a whiff of chocolate... and a little nutty....roasted and unsalted. Mouth feel is full-bodied and tingles the mouth as it goes down. The flavor hits quick with only a little bit showing after the swallow. Flavors of herbs, like parsley and a little basil, with some spice, like cinnamon are immediately apparent. As it warms, it seems to mellow out and finishes quite like. A little sherry comes forth in the flavor as does some fruitiness. Indra (2036), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 23, 2005 2003 vintage (No. 11). Richly sweet malty aroma, sugary and fruity with notes of brown sugar, apple skin, red grape, faint berry and plum with some mildly spicy, citric hops, doughy yeast and peppery alcohol in the background. Deep, dark red-brown color, hazy, with a slight, light tan head and dotted lacing. Flavor profile is fruity, sweet and moderately bitter, the malts sugary and full, the hops piney and spicy with a long, warming finish. Palate is lightly effervescent but becoming just a tad thin, the body expansive. An appropriate selection for a chill winter’s eve. kbjames (242), Utah, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2005 Ah yes, smells like a Barely Wine but with a evergreen scent that clears the sinuses. Light burgundy colour. Flavour is a little lighter than expected but has all the right notes. These being spice, prune/raisin and alcohol. Very drinkable.
