Aroma of cherry Kool-Aid (TM) and molasses. Flavor of concentrated sugar, very dark fruit, and higher alcohols. Overall, a light character which I do not like in a barleywine. There should be some power even if it is the velvet hammer (i.e. Thomas Hardys pre-O’Hanlons). Quite dissappointing but this should get very, very interesting with age. snowtiger (106), Brighton, Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 8, 2004 I have never rated ths one. Still the 2003 (with Fred on the label). Did they make a 2004? I have not seen it.
Apperance - Tawny (hehe - I finally got to use this word in a beer description) amber with smalll tiny bubble off-white head.
Aroma - Deeply maty with alcohol and some very faint hop and raisin notes.
Taste - Intensley malty at first with some hops and alcohol in the finish. Leaves me wanting another sip - which I am going to have.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 27, 2004 Bottle pours a deep red amber with not much head or lace. The aroma is of fresh hops and malt. The flavor is sweet malt, sour Ale fruit notes, and a lingering hop bitter finish. The palate is sticky. Overall, this is not bad. Thanks Becky for hauling this from OR. biermonk (259), San Francisco, California, USA

Auburn, small toffee head. The flavour is treacle and hops, which comes off a bit unusual but fine. Full bodied, mellow and warming. Marvellous! Thanks wohlfs and many Thanks to joey_capps for his hospitality during the Family adjustments he, Christi and Hunter are going through!!
