Been a couple years since I’d had one, & longer since on tap. wite sugar aroma, bubblegum, hint of bourbon. surprisingly light in body. thin white head (co2). flavor whiskey flavor approaching brandy, bitter cherry, light hops just above the sweetness. adds up smoothness akin to a 7 star metaxa (if only i’d had it at home a littel warmer & in a snifter.)

No. 011/2003 bottling. Aroma of malt, alcohol and prune/plum. Under halogen it’s deep amber to reddish gold at the bottom. Tastes of malt, phenols, dark pitted fruit (cherry plum?). No citrus. No pine. Medium mouthfeel. Sipping quality. Finish is tannic rather than bitter. Dark fruit persists.

10th bottling vintage 1999 almost as old as my second daughter - via trade with the generous AlanC - Thanks Alan! Pours a very deep mahogony almost black with a beautiful creamy tan head that stays well and laces the sides of the snifter. Aromas of sweet caramel malts, some cherry, some plum. Flavor is delightfully sweet caramel, some roasty notes, a touch of the citrus that I’m sure was once very strong, Some oak, and a lot of dark fruits. Amazingly not much oxidation after 7 years in the bottle. Palate was full and smooth and creamy. Enjoyable

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Vintage 1999. Very unclear amber golden with a small, off-white head. Malty, caramelish aroma. Full-bodied with lots of caramel and some delicate sherry like accents. Very subdued bitterness. Lovely. Tasted at the Oklahoma Beer tasting March 06 hosted by mjames and lilannie. 240306

Very exemplary appearance. Aroma of wildflower honey, pine sapplings and heat. Palate is quite hot and slightly sticky. Flavour is strongly camerlized sugar with a chalky finish masking fruit pits. Lightly oxidized.

Aroma: musty, floor cleaners, some citrus fruits, and brown sugar
Appearance: murky brown, little carbonation, little lacing
Flavor: musty, brown sugar, sweet alcohol, some plums, red grapes, and weird chemicals
Palate: smooth, slightly bubbly

A 1999 bottle, sampled 2006. Some pleasing oxidation apparent in the nose, a little sherry and cardboard. Smooth and caramelly flavor. Earthy and rustic finish. Surprisingly nice and mellow, easy drinking. Age has done this one well. Some fig starts to show as I get into it. Nice clearish dark amber colo, nice lacing.
