| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 15, 2004 Poured a clear copper color. Very weak head with a gray ting. Hops predominate in the odor, but citrus is there along a touch of fruit. Flavor is much the same with a lot of fruits. A little bit sweet overall. Not much carbonation, and an odd palate. Decent finish. A very average Pale Ale. Silphium (2137), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 9, 2004 On tap at BridgePort, sampled 4 August 2004. This was originally served to me in a tulip glass as their cask-conditioned barleywine, but the furious movements of my pen led to the realization I was actually rating Pintail Ale. Clear copper body with a thin off-white head. Musty, earthy fruit aroma with light caramel and toast. Caramely flavor with light fruit notes, toast, and some bittering hops. Boring but not terrible. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 15, 2004 Bottle Pours a nice copper/amber with a decent head that lingers for a bit leaving some stubborn lacing. Lightly roasted rain and hops are the aromas. Bread and hops are the first flavors but then a darker smokey flavor comes through. Otherwise plain and straightforward. Finsih is clean, light and a slight bitterness that I expect. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
