Light mouthfeel, with slight creamy finish. Great nose, but uninspired taste. OD40oz (602), Box Elder, South Dakota, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 15, 2004 Updated: Jul 31, 2006Bottle. Poured a rich amber/red with a nice off-white head that held up well. Nice aroma of malts and hops gave great promise. However the excessive sweetness at the first taste was a bit of a surprise, and the malt dominated, causing the hops to fade into the background. There was clearly banana and some odd flavors I couldn’t identify. Palate and finish were decent, but I had little desire to drink a second bottle. fluxkritikal (11), Bellingham, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 11, 2004 Ropewalk Amber Ale. Medium brown color, with a light tan head. Sweet pine-like smell. Sweet taste with a nice hint of hops flavor. Goes down real well, but not for veterans. A good solid beer. Gromit (462), Port Orchard, Washington, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 10, 2004 Eh, admittedly I’m not an Amber fan, but this is "okay" at best. Nice lacing, Average malty aroma, flavor was weak while malty, palate was watery. Overall, it’s just another Amber. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 31, 2004 Pouring into a tulip, the deep brown wood body creates a three-tierd appearance with flowing upward stretching vorticies or medium brown bubbles, giving way further up the glass to a creamy soft, light brown cream, finally giving way to a large-bubbled top head layer. It was entertaaining to watch. Nose is a sweet malt w/ some maple and honey and a light hop tone. thin bodied w/ an unpleasent ashtray quality... some harsh wood flavors as well. Damn, the look and nose were so good, but this one ends in dissappointment. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2004 The beer after its parole from the 12-ounce brown bottle sets in the glass a limpid mahogany color with a portly light tan head that is semi-creamy in texture, the lace forms a nice sealing sheet upon the glass. Nose is malt dominated, sweet, crisp, and fresh to the senses, a bit of caramel with just a slight whiff of hops, start is nicely malted, lightly sweet with the top middling in feel. Finish is delightful in its acidity, the hops deliciously spicy, droughty aftertaste, a nice drinking beer, and I think it would be a nice session beer. unclebleen (620), California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 26, 2004 I found this beer to be quite interesting and pleasant. Had on draft at the brewpub it pours a amber color with a small white head. Sweet, malty nose and flavor with just enough hop to balance it to the style. One of the better Amber’s around.
