Commercial Description:
Ropewalk is a mellow, malt-driven amber that dances a subtly sweet line. The balance of Crystal malt with a subtle dose of Northwest hops delivers a refreshing ale that makes for a great session beer. Originally brewed to mark our 20th anniversary, Ropewalk – which literally means “a long narrow building where rope is made” – is a tribute to our building’s roots as a rope factory, while also celebrating feats of daring everywhere.

Flavor was a mild maltiness with a subtle hop feel. Needs more flavor intensity, as well as being fairly thin bodied. Not bad, but kind of boring.

4 ounce sample at the brewpub in Portland, OR. Metallic, almost acetic aroma with a little bit of biscuity maltiness present as well. Smells kind of off. Transparent dark copper color with a rather frothy off-whitish head and decent lacing present. A little sweet caramel roastiness to start. Becomes a little more metallic later. Very thin-bodied. Boring, yet in-offensive.

Pours a nice clear amber color with a very light head. Has a light toasty malt aroma and flavor with a nice hop balance. Light to medium body. A decent beer.

Decent amber ale. Not much aroma in this one, maybe a bit of caramel. Flavor is sweet. Thin body, easy finish. Not bad. Refreshing.

Bottle poured a clear amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of carmel, bread and light ciyrus. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel and light fruitiness with a smooth cleabn finish.

Medium light brown with mostly white head, moderate carbonation. Very mild aroma, a little nutty, a little fruity. Starts a little sour then sweet and grainy, then finishes mild sour and metallic. Overall pretty bland, which is probably good considering what flavor there is.

Eh. This is a below average amber ale with an unpleasant metallic taste. I won’t buy this again.

Bottle at home. Just about average in every way, which, since it comes from Bridgeport, is a bit of a dissapointment. Pours an average copper amber color, with average tan head. The smell is of syrup and malt, kind of nondescript, like the taste. Finishes biscuity and sweet. I don’t feel like it was a wasted purchase, but not something that I would go out of my way to get.
