Commercial Description:
Ropewalk is a mellow, malt-driven amber that dances a subtly sweet line. The balance of Crystal malt with a subtle dose of Northwest hops delivers a refreshing ale that makes for a great session beer. Originally brewed to mark our 20th anniversary, Ropewalk – which literally means “a long narrow building where rope is made” – is a tribute to our building’s roots as a rope factory, while also celebrating feats of daring everywhere.

Draft. An amber beer with a slight haze under a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, while the flavor is sweet malty with caramel being the strongest note, but also lighter notes of fruits and spices.

After 20 years of walking the highwire of craft brewing, BridgePort brews a macrobrew! Bright amber colour. Nondescript "amber" aroma, so mainly caramel and not so much hop, maybe vague malts. Bland, light, caramelly character. Sweetish accent. maybe some hints of toast. So standard, so boring, so by-the-numbers. The only feat of daring here would be to drink a second one.

On tap at Bridgeport, Portland. Chestnut. Thin beige head. Really banana/pineapple/green apple fruits. Bit of ginger on aroma, then banana/pineapple flavour. Oddly fruity

12oz bottle. Poured a medium and lightly hazy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of toasted malts, lightly fruity and some caramel. Tastes of caramel, apples, and toasted malts. On the sweeter side. Thin body bordering on watery.

on tap-pours a thin off white head and amber color. Aroma is medium malt-sweet caramel, slight acidic sharpness. Taste is medium malt-very sweet caramel, slight acidic sharpness from the hops-slightly bitter. Finishes dry. Light/medium body. OK effervescence.

Cask and tap@ Bridgeport. Flavours of grape and toffee apple, nice and soft with a slightly funky acidic cask character, some vanilla. the tap version was much blander.

Pouring into a tulip, the deep brown wood body creates a three-tierd appearance with flowing upward stretching vorticies or medium brown bubbles, giving way further up the glass to a creamy soft, light brown cream, finally giving way to a large-bubbled top head layer. It was entertaaining to watch. Nose is a sweet malt w/ some maple and honey and a light hop tone. thin bodied w/ an unpleasent ashtray quality... some harsh wood flavors as well. Damn, the look and nose were so good, but this one ends in dissappointment.
