Commercial Description:
The pioneering spirit that made us Oregon's Oldest Craft Brewery ® is the inspiration behind our new European inspired big beautiful blonde ale, S?pris. Drawing from our heritage of fine ale craftsmanship, we pursued a fresh flavor direction that would encapsulate our history as well as our vision of bringing the best flavors of the world to your pint glass. S?pris is crafted with European two-row malt to maintain a clean, rich flavor that is delicate and immensely satisfying. The unique blend of hops from Germany, Czech Republic and Slovenia deliver a smooth flavor that contributes to the overall unique balanced dimensions S?pris offers. S?pris is naturally conditioned in the bottle and keg in the BridgePort tradition, and that’s where the similarity to our other beers ends. S?pris brings a distinct experience to the palate with ample effervescence and understated robustness.

(12oz bottle) Hazy golden body with medium white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, peach/syrup, yeast, some herb. Taste is medium sweet, peach, yeast, some herbal, light syrup. Effervescent light-medium body, light acidity.

Yeasty flowery scent. Chamomile? Light apricot color under halogen. Spicy belgian flavor, but light in character. Fine bubbles effervesce to provide a substantial mouthfeel. Light grapefruit towards the finish. Everything is light with this one. Imagine a Wit with malt, body and sugar. There is some, not a lot, of sweetness here. Just goes to show that any bottle conditioned Bridgeport is a treasure.

Aroma: Unmistakably belgian influence... yeast, soft floral notes and sweet malt lingering in background. Appearance: Cloudy and Straw yellow with a huge white head which settles leaving nice lace on the glass (brewing lingerie) Flavor: Sweet Malt (Some wheat like graininess) Firm spicy hop flavor combined with soft fruits finishing wonderfully dry... making room for the next relaxed sip. Palate: Great level of carbonation. Nice play malt sweetness, spicy hop (Styrian Goldings???) with some yeast notes and finishing with a dry lingering finish Overall: Nothing and everything.. Look at the bottle, take sip and then take a whiff... yup... not the Blonde Ale you thought. Everything a Belgian Session Beer like De Konink should be... I only wish the finish was had a little more malt lingering... quibbles ... Cheer to Bridgeport! A great beer to enjoy by the pool side on a slow Sunday.

Belgian Ale? I thought it was a Pale Lager or Blonde, as it tasted a bit like Bud. Sweet with a bit of corn. It did have some citrus fruits, like orange and lemon also. Held the head nicely enough, even though it was poured into a plastic cup while waiting in lin for the doors to open for DSO. Not horrible in the end though.

I was thoroughly expecting an insipid blonde ale so was quite surprised when I took my first sniff and thoroughly blown away after my first taste. The appearance is a boring enough blonde with an evanescent head, though their is a strong, but natural-looking upcurrent of bubbles. Aroma is clean with some wheatiness and a touch of hops and yeast. Complex yeast flavor that is full of msyerious spices and a touch of evergreen. This is a great Northest interpretation of a belgian ale. Well done!

The beer emerges from the 12-ounce brown bottle a slightly hazy gold with a presidential sized head, the texture creamy and the color a brilliant white as it slowly waste away, the resultant lace in sheer curtain to cover the glass. Nose has a tinge of old leather, musk, yeast, with a fruity backing, an interesting aroma at any rate, the start is lightly sweet with a surprising grain profile, the top middling in its feel. Finish has a purposeful acidity, the hops refined in their spiciness, desert bone dry aftertaste, and a quite nice beer, and well worth a sample.

Chromate yellow, chill haze; no head. Bit of glue, gassy nose and some pale malts. Slightly toasted notes in the taste above the pale malts, cereals and pineapple-ish retronasal - or is that the contrast with the other beers in this area? Slightly burning MF, but especially very fizzy, oversaturated feel. Strange - another one I don’t dig the intention of. IMO useless, but I seem to be in a minority (WBC medal winner...)
