I only tried a generous splash of this dark girl at Fed Sq, big cocoa flavours, dark for a porter but all in all well worth another go. Cant wait to meet again.

Bottle. Very good porter. Aromas of coffee, apple, and chocolate. Flavour is sweet, with bitterness at the end and good length. Silky palate and medium body. Dark brown, head is frothy, and with good retention.

Bottle. Pours murky brown with a creamy tanned head. Aroma is strong of roasted malt and dark chocolate but this fades in the flavour. It’s very sweet and almost sugary/candy which follow through to the finish. There’s very low bitterness in the mouthfeel as well. An OK porter but I found this a little too flawed to want to go back for another bottle.

330ml bottle. Thick and rich black colour with a nice tan coffee coloured head. Chocolate and almond aromas fill the nose and coffee flavours burst into the mouth. Robust and complex and very moreish.

I’ve had this on multiple occasions (bottled) and its always grumpy and aggressive upon pouring. Colour is dark brown with some ruby highlights, towering tan coloured head. Nose shows dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. Palate is much of the same with a touch of sweet malt to add balance. Very lively carbonation (bit of a turn off) Finishes with dry roasted malt and medium earthy hop bitterness.

Angry and aggressive beer upon pouring. A massive white / tan head with a faint yellow tinge. Masses of chocolate and coffee on the nose. Heaps of power, so much so that this would be a great beer to illustrate porter and stout aromatics to the newbie. The flavour intensity translates very faithfully through to the palate, the chocolate just keeps on coming. I also picked up a definite hop note in the back, which does deliver an unexpected firm bitterness. These guys are doing a great job across the range and it shows here again.

Large, tan coloured head on a deep ruby red body. Big nose that seems to be almost all dark chocolate. Notice the alcohol in the taste, liquorice and coffee notes as well as vegemite. Reminds me very much like an Anchor porter.
