| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 12, 2007 12 oz bottle. October 1999 vintage. Poured a clear dark orange color with a soft purple tint. Head was off white and reduced rapidly to a thin film. Smelled of plum, molasses, a hint of brown sugar, and plenty of alcohol. Sweet on the tongue with raisin, plum, carmelized brown sugar, and toffee flavors. I didn’t detect any hop flavor or aroma. Full bodied with a warming alcohol effect. 1FastSTi (2560), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 9, 2007 Thanks Jason for sharing this 10/1998 vintage beer. The beer pours to an initially clear red body with a thin fizzy white/tan head. Final pour is really murky and brownish. The aroma is oxidized sherry, malt, and is quite vinous. The flavor is malty, sweet vinous grapes. Nice malty, velvety, winey palate. Oddly, I liked this oxidized barley wine. Ughsmash (4027), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 4, 2007 Bottled in October, 1998, thanks to whoever sent this! Poured clear (initially), translucent coppery-amber with deeper-beige color and a surprising amount of carbonation remaining. The flavor had a sharp, but long-lasting very sweet caramel sweetness with sour boozy notes.. left a long, boozy, almost sweet-tarty sweet, warm finish. Very sweet again on the palate with a long, sweet and boozy finish.. long, bitter finish.. but still held its own after all these years. kp (8399), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 11, 2007 Sample from 12 ounce bottle (1999), RBSG Minneapolis Grand Tasting, June 23 2007. Light hazy caramel color, with actually a bit of head though it dies quickly....oxidized, caramel and cherry-chocolate/toffee aroma is pleasant, sweet, lightly tart....nicely balanced on the tongue, moderately sweet at the front, no alcohol noted whatsoever, lightly woody-dry to finish....a bit thin and dry, but quite solid overall. Can’t believe the alcohol content. A nice surprise; I’d never heard of this but am glad that I have now.
