Commercial Description:
Bristol Edge City Gourmet Malt Liquor is not your typical 40 ouncer. Brewed with two select varieties of corn, two choice varieties of wheat, and premium barley. The resulting subtle and complex malt body lends a nice background for intense hops. At 40 IBU’s and dry hopped, this unique lager was created for hop heads. With Lynne’s stamp of approval attached she says the time has come to "Bulldog Up!"

Slightly hazy with a nice orange hue. Spicy nose. Malts were chewy, grainy and toasty. Hops were bold, with hints of grass, citrus, pine, and weed (agree with pdee here). Healthy amount of bitterness to boot. A little rough around the edges.

100% blind rating. Body is hazy light amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted bread), moderately hoppy (grapefruit), lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of skunk. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Rather crude and seemingly skunky.

Slightly cloudy orange, small frothy head. Aroma is kinda sour, funky hops. Barnyard? Smells kinda like weed. Taste is grainy, metallic, dry. Lots of bitter hops. Finish is dry, metallic. Tastes cheap.

Beer pours a hazy, medium yellow-gold color with a small, white, fizzy, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is malty with light notes of toasted grain, cookie and caramel; overwhelmingly hoppy with strong notes of skunk/pot, resin/pine; yeasty with light notes of dough; miscellaneous light notes of honey and peach. The flavor is moderately sweet, heavily bitter with a longer-than-average heavily bitter, moderately warm finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.

On tap on site. Smells good - hoppy actually. This is hoppier than some IPAs I’ve had, but not from here. A pretty dry finish, but quite nice enough that it’s hard to think of this as a malt liquor.

Draught. Pours a brilliant golden hay-straw with a small rocky white head and lined lacing. Fruity hop aroma surprises you and then leads way for a complex mixture of malt (meal, wheat) and corn (faint) with yeast (dough) notes. Fruity citrus hop (orange) flavor, lightly acidic and bitter, corn and malt body. Light bodied and crisp, extremely refreshing on the palate. This could be a great thirst quencher on a hot day.
