cb (810), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA Jul 13, 2005 Bright orange and rose scent layered on sweet/spicy hops. Slightly woody nose, hops easily blend with the wood without one overpowering the other. Also note of oatmeal vanilla cookie. Cedar and lemon in the finish, along with lasting floral, oak and grapefruit flavors. Definitely a "must try" if you are ever at Bristol. Thanks to Crosling for recommending this brewery! BeerandBlues2 (2510), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jun 24, 2005 Tap. Pours brown to maple and orange with a tan frothy head and lined lacing. Huge floral hop aroma with a fruit nose, very frangrant and perfume-like. Hoppy pine start with oak notes and a fruit hop end, spicy feel. Warm and full bodied, finishes dry. Terminus (1955), Illinois, USA Apr 11, 2005 tap at brewpub-this is a very special release and im very happy to be able to sample this one. pours a hazzy orange hue with a small white head. wow, big citrus/oak barrel aroma going on as well as nice pineapple, mango and grapefruit. some tangerine/pina colada things going on as well. Big oaky flavors start out, but the finish was non-existent. I see that other people thought the same thing about this. Some hop flavor, but the oak aging kinda killed most of them. as the beer warmed, the hops came out a little more with notes of vineous hops-dry and resiny. A very decent beer from Bristol Ernest (4250), Boulder, Colorado, USA Apr 2, 2005 Draught, Bristol Brewpub, Colorado Springs.
Body is hazy medium amber.
Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, caramel), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin), with notes of cask wood and whisky.
Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, creamy/syrupy texture, soft carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
Very nice for a barrel-aged monster IPA...good balance, complex, etc. Crosling (1660), Loveland, Colorado, USA Mar 17, 2005 This beer is Bristol’s Edge City Double IPA aged one year in French oak barrels and dry hopped substancially every month. Sorry you two (Aubrey and Brian) but you clearly didn’t spend enough time with this masterpiece at the festival. This is the proper way to oak age an IIPA. Draught @ Bristol Brewing Company. Unfiltered murky orange in color. Huge, bursting nose of oak (cocunut, vanilla, wood) and hops (lemon, pine, flowers), coming together to create pure bliss in between the nostrils. In the flavor, this truly did capture the essence of the barrel, possessing a huge contribution along with an onslaught of juicy hops. Thick, coating texture. Damn, Bristol can brew.
