Humulone_Red (744), Vancouver, Washington, USA Jul 5, 2006 Thanks to my friends Tim & Naomi for sharing this beer. Growler from the brewpub. Pours a cloudy medium copper with big fluffy white head and great lacing. The nose is spicy with notes of grass and some celery. The flavor is sweet and spicy with hints of cookie dough. The hops have some pine notes but the bitterness rounds out the sweetness. Nice beer. luckygirl (1212), Longmont, Colorado, USA Apr 28, 2006 Draught at BJ’s Boulder. Beer poured a hazy medium pale amber color with a large, creamy/frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing head. Thick partial lacing on the glass. The aroma was malty with moderate notes of slightly husky toasted grain, cookie and caramel; hoppy with moderate notes of herbs, light notes of resin/pine; yeasty wth moderate notes of dough, trace notes of horseblanket; moderate spicy alcohol and a trace note of honey. The flavor was heavily sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic with a long, light-to-moderately acidic, trace bitter finish with lightly warming alcohol notes. The body was medium, the texture was watery and the carbonation was soft. Not bad, but missing a lot of the personality of a Tripel. Ernest (4254), Boulder, Colorado, USA Apr 22, 2006 Draught.
Head is white, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), with light notes of pepper, clove, bubble gum.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Nice flavor balance and finish (spicy/brisk bitterness), but it could use a more interesting aroma. I actually quite like where this could go, based on the flavor. Some bottle conditioning time might be all it needs to get mid/high 3’s for me. One to watch? LolaLovesBeer (17), Denver, Colorado, USA Mar 19, 2006 On tap in the Bristol tasting room - nice golden-orange color but by the time it arrived at the table there was no head to speak of. It smells of yeast, fruit and alcohol and the body is light. I like it but if I’m in the mood for a Tripel I’ll reach for a Belgian. BeerandBlues2 (2514), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Mar 17, 2006 Draught. Pours hazy golden straw with a thin off-white head and some spotty lacing at first, but a dissipating head. Aroms is yeast (bandaid, bubblegum) and malt (meal), fruit (apricot, peach) and anise notes. Medium bitterness and acidity, medium to low sweetness, candied sugars, bandaids and antiseptics, yeast and malt flavors. Medium bodied and dry, fizzy palate.
