Pours a nice dark ruby red (but leaning a bit towards brown) hue. Caramel, roasted - nutty flavors and maybe some over-ripe apples come through. Average head and lacing but the color is beautiful. Very good beer for brew newbies, but also satisfies the aficionados. iskirwan1 (66), monument, Colorado, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 17, 2006 This was a really enjoyable beer. A really true on true take of what I consider a Scottish ale to be. Strong amount of maltiness with a bit of spice and caramel malt delicately balanced by the slightest bit of smokiness and some peaty funkiness, almost a medicincal smell throughout. bgoguen (53), Colorado, USA

It’s a staple local brew on tap in almost any Colorado Springs bar. I would recommend it to anyone. Won’t knock you off your seat, but won’t disappoint either.
