Commercial Description:
Mass Transit is a flavorful ale that goes down effortlessly. Crystal, carapils, victory and vienna specialty malts give this ale its rich auburn color and mellow taste.

Tap. A mild bodies ale with malty taste that gives it a great smoothness. A great ale to enjoy and very smooth. A clean finish.

This is honestly not the best beer I’ve ever had. The hazed amber brown body is topped by a small head. The aroma is malty, but boring. The flavor is ... murky might be the best word for it. It lacks characters and bores with an overreliance on the cystal malts for flavor.

Bottle poured a clear amber with a diminishing off white head. Aromas of carmel, bread and toffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, toffee and a hint of chocolate with a smooth malty finish.

12 oz. bottle from Morgan’s. Drank on 8/20/06. Very clear, dark copper (maybe light amber) Smallish 1 cm. off-white to light tan head. Drops pretty quickly to some light foam. Decent lacing. Aroma - Very similar grainy / cereally aroma to their other beers. No real hop aroma at all. Avg. strength. Flavor - Avg. up front bitterness. Very well balanced with some cereally malt notes. A little bit of sweetness. Palate - Light to medium. Good amt. of avg. carb. Overall - Good beer. I like this one better than the honey wheat or red rocket, but not quite as much as laughing lab. All of them (except for laughing lab) seem to have a similar "house" flavor, from the yeast? So, this beer has a nice balance and good malt character without a lot of hop at all. It goes down real easy and smooth. Great summertime lawnmower / poundable ale. I can see why it’s called "mass transit".

Beer pours ligth orange color with a nicely retained off white head. Aroma is lightly floral hoppy with a bit of biscuity malty notes as well. Flavor is a let down. The hops peter out quite quickly and the cereal maltiness is just kind of there. Not nearly as good as the Amber I had recently at The Covey in Fort Worth.

i’ll tell you an amazing thing about this beer-- as soon as i discover one. in truth, this is an astonishingly unremarkable beer. a bit of dried lemon-grass and hot dog buns. sound tasty? i don’t think so either. so mass transit, even with it’s nice label, doesn’t really perform for me. the carroty orange beer has both haze and a galaxy of micro-fine particles-- particles about the size of mosquito brains i’d guess-- though it’s hard to get a caliper around just one chunk. the head is fine and the lace dapples like spots on an appallosa, so while it sits fetchingly in a glass, it seems that the ads go on forever, but the show never starts. i mean it’s quenching and has a bit of that caramel goo like you’d find in a milky way bar, along with some nestea bitterness, but the watery feel and utterly passive agenda make it remarkable in it’s unremarkableness. so be warned-- when you climb aboard this hippy van all set to party, don’t be surprised to find everyone tripping out to a skipping record and going: "duuuuuuuuh...."
