Bottle. Translucent almandine body with a fading ring of bubbles. Nose-sweet, clean, crisp classic American barleywine nose. Taste-moderate sweetness with a very odd garbage juice finish. Spciy pepper, cherry, bitter hops, and alcohol. This beer does not utilize aroma and flavor hops like it should. This unbalance lets the sickly seetness take over and dominate, leaving a very nasty aftertaste.

dark iced tea pour with a short yellow head. aroma of bacon, lemon, yeast, and syrup. dark fruit flavor that is more grape than anything else. really strong alcohol flavor that melds with a dough character. finish is saffron raisin and smooth burbon. i know there is no burbon here, but that comes to mind. the sffron aroma comes out with the flavor as it warms here. syrupy chocolate come out with some temp to it. not a bad barleywine, but the finish is way to veggie for my tastes.

hazy brown color tall white well laced head. Smells of pine and lemon rind w/ a touch of vanilla. Fairly avg palate. Flavor was an artificial malt some dark fruit and hitns of vanilla. A pretty blah barley wine.

Tap. Pours orange to copper with a small tan head. Floral hop aroma with caramel malt notes. Hoppy, dry pine and a sugary malt end. Medium bodied and dry.

Cloudy copper with aromas of dried fruits and caramel, a lot of caramel. Still some hops are alive to balance out flavors of toast and crystal malts. Sticky sweet with a full body.

12 oz. bottle, vintage 2002: Cloudy amber/ruby, small head which fades quickly to nothing. Caramel and maple nose, overall quite sweet smelling. Burnt caramel malt shares the palate with dry floral hops. Lasting dry bitterness in finish, no sign of alcohol here.

12oz Bottle. A vigorous pour yields a smallish head which settles to a thin layer of film. Beautiful color of reddish amber that is slightly cloudy. Vanilla, caramel and brandy aromas. Hops provide some fruitiness and compliment the malts perfectly. Body is full, chewy, syrupy and softly carbonated. Flavors are both hoppy and malty and really compliment each other which I find very enjoyable. Lasting bitterness in finish. Caramel, fruit and hops add much flavor. Alcohol although not overpowering in flavor is very warming. This is a Barley Wine I can get into. Thanks to Snowtiger for the sample.

On cask @ Falling Rock 2004 vintage aged in a port barrel poured a cloudy amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of toffee, carmel, dried fruit,and a hint of wood. Palate was light bodied and dry. Flavors of dark cherries, apple, vinous, and notes of wood with a dry bitter finish.
