Braudog (3463), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates May 6, 2004 An orange beer. Sweet and orange-flavored, too, yet spicy with a big finish. Nicely done. Sledge Jr (2720), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Feb 14, 2004 Had this at the 2003 Steamboat Springs Beer Festival. Tart, effervescent and delicious. Yeasty with a light malt body and slight lemon pepper undertone. This one fills the mouth with BIG taste. Really good saison. Has the aroma and flavor of lemon basil and the citrus of rosehips. I also taste pepper. Light bodied like it should be. Great color.
Right on! JorisPPattyn (4500), Antwerpen, Belgium Oct 2, 2003 (draught) Dull orange; good white-yellowish head. Herbal, spicy, bit grassy, touch of flowers. I can taste the rosehips it is made with, plus a peppery (grains de paradis) flavour. This beer has a great balance, including a hint of sourness which suggests the oxide acidity of authentic Saison. Light to medium bodied - exactly right for Saison. Well dammit! This is the closest to real Saison I've encountered so far in the USA. And it isn't even in the database! It might have been a lucky hit, but it certainly isn't any less meriting for it.
