hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Oct 10, 2009 Draft. Small off-whte with a long retention, transparent with a golden body, no visible carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma was malty, mildly hoppy and bready. The flavor was malty, mildly hoppy, bready, and caramel. A smooth mouthfeel and a medium bodied beer. An easy to drink Altbier that does not set the world on fire IMO. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 2, 2009 This draft brew from a beer festival poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were and left behind a transparent uncarbonated light orange brown colored body and a very good lacing. The mild aroma was caramel malt. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt hops and mild caramel. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Oct 8, 2008 Clear amber with a white head. Mild aroma is roasty nutty, with bready malts. Medium body. Decent flavor is mildly sweet caramel with a roasted malt drying finish. Not bad. Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 7, 2008 Objectively speaking:
More than honest alt on the malty side of the spectrum.
I like:
They went straight and focused on toastiness though they never reach the layered Dusseldorf levels. Interesting malt extraction, gently nutty which is a trait I enjoy and bready, but not overly so. Globally dry as well.
I dislike:
Not very hoppy, a leafy slice in the end would be welcome. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 28, 2008 tap at Mad Anthony Oktoberfest - Pours mostly clear copper with a thin white head. It has a light bready malt aroma. The flavor is of bread and caramel malt with some mild hops that come through very well in the pleasant finish of this medium bodied brew. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Oct 18, 2007 Sample draft at the brewpub. Pours an amber/orange with a thin beige head and patchy lacing. The nose is fairly muted, with light toasty malt and little else. Light-bodied and slick finishing dry and lightly bitter. Bready, nutty, sweet caramel malt and a crisp, dry, nutty and bitter finish. There’s no distinct hop flavor in this one, just the texture and bitterness to let you know they’re doing their job. Quite quaffable. Tmoney99 (4649), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 16, 2007 Draft at brewpub. Poured hazy brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium toasted balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. I would recommend this to a freind. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 07/21/2007
