| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/20 | Dec 27, 2005 This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind an unnoted lacing. The body contained average carbonation, was transparent and dark ruby red brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of mild coffee brown malt . Its mouth feel is initially flat with a lingering flat palate and a mild malt aftertaste. Its flavor was very thin and not worth describing. A poor Porter. jahughey (65), Franklin, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 14, 2005 Updated: Sep 15, 2005 The only slightly disappointing flagship brew from this mecca. Unsubstantial even for a brown porter, just not enough of a good thing. Nice roasty/malty aroma dissipates into a VERY thin mouthfeel. I realize that there are mild and strong, brown and robust porters, but this one is nearly diet (God forbid ). A tiny but correctible blemish on the best English brewpub in the country. Moderate aroma of chocolate and coffee. Medium body with a smooth watery texture. Well balanced porter flavor similar to aroma with a short finish. hotstuff (3176), Indiana, USA

Small tan head with sparse lacing, fine-small sized bubbles, transparent, no visible carbonation, and a red brown hue. Aroma was malty and chocolate and some roastiness. Flavor was malty, chocolate and coffee. Smooth, watery, thin mouthfeel. BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 20, 2004 Draft at Fest: Near opaque with fizzy tan head and minimum lace. The aroma has notes of roasted and nutty malts, mocha, biscuit and bready, floral hops. The taste starts with a twangy and fruity hop character on top of a large dose of chocolate malt. Chalky, coffee, and nutty on the finish. The feel was fizzy and thin. This beer is okay but needs better mouthfeel and depth, more like a sweet stout than a porter. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 10, 2003 Very rich and chewy porter, velvety smooth mouthfeel, more like a stout. Roasty and chocolatey and actually quite bitter at the finish. I think this was their Stout, but the tapper said, "Monon Porter".
