Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chesnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team.

Dark amber with a small white head. Aroma holds wheat, biscuit, and some definite notes of some sort of English ale; not a lot of hop present on the nose. Flavor has an interesting balance between flowery hops and a bit of sweet caramel malt. Nothing special, but certainly a serviceable session ale coming from Brooklyn Brewery.

A golden brown beer with a decent head. Aroma was sweet, & malty. The taste was malty, dry, & with a faint hint of bitter on the finish. Nice lacing & a good deal of carbonation.

Bottle @ Bar Volo labeled "Pennant Ale": Pours copper in colour, nice white head. Caramel, toasted malty aroma. Flavour is great and balanced with lots of perfumy, floral hops offset by a pretty strong malt sweetness. Just a well done standard ale by a top-notch brewery.

Bottle. Deep amber with small white head. Light biscuit English malts and slight toffee in the subtle nose. Flavor is light malts with modest hop bitterness and flavor in the finish. Watery texture and light bodied. Crisp and clean english ale, nothing remarkable going on though.

[bottle] Maple wood aroma with a touch of dried fruit, not apricot. Almost clear chestnut appearance under a thin, off-white cover. Bready caramel flavour with plenty of cardboard and dried fruit and nut accents. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly nutty sweet and bitter finish.

Pours mostly clear and amber with short lived whitish head. Smell is slightly yeasty and malty mostly. Taste is fairly balanced between biscuity malt, grassy hops and slighty bready yeast. I prefer a little cleaner, less yeasty beer, but not bad, and certainly drinkable.

My bottle reads "Pennant Ale ’55" and I couldn’t be happier... great throwback to the Brooklyn Dodgers first World Series Championship win!!! I can only imagine the fans drinking this delicious beer back then (too bad they weren’t so lucky). The pour is perfect, one finger of head atop a clear, golden brown brew. The nose is mild, yet revealing of the medium hops and sugary malts. The taste is very well balanced, making this beer incredibly drinkable. Thank you Brooklyn... for everything.

Pours a clear dark golden amber color with a thin white foam head that quickly fades. Pilsner malt in the aroma with a subtle hop presence. Malty ale with a nice crisp hop balance. Slightly watered down with nice hop taste up front that is balanced by a sweet malty center and a dry, bitter hop finish.
