Malty nose and flavor with a nice hoppy finish. A nice tasting, refreshing ale. yngwie (5051), Kristiansand, Norway
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 12, 2006 Bottled as Pennant Ale 55. Slightly hazy, orange-brown ale with a small off-white head. Fruits, caramel, yeast-notes and apples in the aroma. The flavor has fruityness, caramel, some hops and spicyness. Medium body and a fruity and hoppy finish. A really nice beer, hoppy and fruity, but it doesn’t stand out from the crowd. (060819) SB (318), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 7, 2006 Botle. Dark amber pour. No head. Aroma malty, and very faint. Flavor was different, Orange, malt, and flower hints, with some spice, I can’t place. Ever so slight hop notes. Soapy (?) in the finish. Light to medium bodied. Crisp mouthfeel, average overall. ¾ (5009), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 7, 2006 Bottle. Just slightly hazy in appearance, dark amber orange in color. The nose is a little hard for me to figure out, but it’s not really complex at all. Has some light brown sugar and cracker malt scents, along with some orange and mango fruit scents, but overall it’s not very appealing. Resembles an oxidized or infected old ale, but it’s clear to me that there is no actual infection. Crisp and flavorless up front, more of the same over the middle, with some spoiled orange and tin flavors appearing. Finish is wet, flavorless, plain. Not a bad beer, but really lacking character. pubbe (493), Højbjerg, Denmark
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 6, 2006 Amber with offwhite mostly lasting head. Malt and hops in the nose, but not a lot. The flavor has good bitterness and a little note of copper. It feels a little fizzy on the palate and finishes off dry. milewide (622), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 2, 2006 Decent head of medium sized bubbles. Decent carhonation. Head reduces quickly. Dry dusty aroma. Roasty malts, a little bit of lavender and soap. Very strange. Color is a medium brownish orange. Dry, thin lightly bitter flavor. More flowers. Little bit of malts. Finish is floral and dry. Little pasty. Not a very good brew. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 28, 2006 Bottle. Copper color, off white frothy head, mostly diminishing. Aroma of caramel malt, kind of cakey, a little bit of spice and hops. Hops more prevalent in the flavor, which offset classic roasty malts. Bitter, even somewhat sour finish. Palate was too thin and watery. I thought this was ’da bomb’ years ago, blowing Bass away. Now it seems just fair, decent, OK, etc...
