Amber/light orange color. Clear with moderate carbonation. Aroma is mostly malt. Flavor is initially caramel malt with honey undertones and then a nice hop finish. Great balance of malt and hops. A nice crisp, clean, and enjoyable brew.

Thin head with little to no retention, aroma was pleasant but not memorable. Flavor is good, with citrus and caramel, moderate carbonation and a crisp finish but without the bitterness usually found with a pale ale. Very drinkable overall. bubbleflubber (898), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 30, 2006 Bottled as "Brooklyn Pennant Ale ’55". The pour is toffee brown with a small head and trace amounts of suds lace. The aroma contains caramel, fruity esters, slight copper and sweet malt. Flavors of lightly citric fruits, some caramel, biscuits and nuts (indicative of a nut brown ale, honestly). The finish is biscuity, and the mouthfeel seems a tad thin... not round. Lemony citrus effervescence after the pull makes for a decent ale. It won’t set the world on fire, but it will make for a very nice session brew, and a nice standby.
