Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chesnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team.

Bottle as Brooklyn Pennant Ale 55. Malty aroma. Toasted malt flavor with moderate hop bitterness. Expected more.

Golden color. Smell of hops but mostly malt. Taste of hops and malt with a so/so bitterness. The bitterness is nice in one sip and not that nice in the other.

Bot. Aroma: leatherhops, as in a used boot thats been traveling trails of pure unpolluted sacred dirt. Nice malty salt of the earth mild definitely english hops. Does taste a bit like a ballpark - that mitt, sacred dirt, summer glorious yet plebeian hopes, wait baseball isn’t really enghlish, you should have used american hops you bastards! But flavorwise, it works veyr well, nutty, leathery, manly. I’m becoming a big fan of fresh summer brooklyn beers. Not a "big flavor" imperial type contender but one of the more solid session beers and definitely a beer to be proud of brewing, drinking, or serving. I would definitely put this in my mix at any summer party. Cheers! By the way its amber and has a nice crisp finish and a beige small tight head.

12 oz bottle labeled as Pennant Ale ’55 via trade with JoeMcPhee! - Thanks Joe! -Pours dark amber with a short white creamy head that stays well and laces the sides of the glass. Aromas of mostly caramel malt but I could also pick up a touch of toffee and some grassy hops. Flavor is caramel malts, lots of yeast, and some vegetal flavor as well along with some nutty flavor. Palate is medium bodied but leans toward the watery side. Finish doesn’t show many hops either. Quite different for a pale ale

Beer is a clear, medium brown with a small, frothy, totally and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is malty with moderate toasted grain and caramel; Hoppy with light notes of herb and pine; Yeasty with a light note of dough and sharp cheese; Light miscellaneous notes of diacetyl and over-scrubbed stainless-steel pots. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, trace bitter with an average-length, moderately acidic, trace bitter, lightly sweet finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is less-than lively.

A handsome, clear, dark amber with a smallish white head. Nose has some grassy hops, but it dominated by the buttered toast curse of diacetyl. Flavor is fairly unremarkable, slightly sweet, with a buttery finish, only a light bit of hop bitterness.
