Commercial Description:
While many American beer aficionados enjoy Belgium’s strong specialty ales, we’ve also enjoyed Belgium’s excellent pale ales, on draft at every bar in Antwerp. Brooklyn Antwerpen Ale is our homage to those beers, which have spicy, floral aromatics and mild, biscuity flavors on the palate. These beers are great with choucroute – the tasty local dish of sausages, thick-cut ham and sauerkraut – and with a wide range of other foods. These beers taste brilliant in Belgium, but frankly, by the time they reach our shores, they’re usually a bit tired. We thought it would be fun to bring this beer style to you brewery-fresh. Like the originals, we’ve brewed Brooklyn Antwerpen Ale from lightly caramelized European malts and fermented the beer with a special Belgian yeast at unusually high temperatures. After a few weeks of ageing, the beer is filtered and emerges bright amber. At a sessionable 5% by volume, this is a flavorful beer you can stick with for the evening.
Malts: German Munich and Pilsner malts, Belgian Aromatic malt.
Hops: Hallertauer Perle and Czech Saaz
OG: 12.5° Plato

On tap at HalfTime. Poured an effervescent amber with a fizzy white head. Surprisingly crisp hoppy aroma, predominantly spicy grass... I could tell Saaz a mile away. Flavor follows, lightly sweet with some light spice, and that same grassy hoppiness, with a toffeish body. Finish pretty clean. Came across a bit like a fruity pilsener, but was clean and refreshing. Not bowling me over, but nice.

On draft at Clark’s Ale House in Syracuse. Pale color with a creamy lace head courtesy of the draft. Very mild sweet aroma and flavor. Just a touch of honey-ish sweetness but that was about it. The body was belgian but other than that it came up a bit weak.

on tap at Firewaters, AC. Amber in color small off white head. Aroma was pretty subdued, with caramel, biscuit, and light notes of spice. Taste was caramel, light notes of toasty malt, subtle spicyness. This was pretty light bodied and not too exciting.

Draft pint
Consumed at Ye Olde New York in State College, PA

Kind of tastes like nothing. Draft pint at a local bar, the appearance was nice, red and orange colored body under a nice foamy white head, slightly cloudy, but it smelled empty and tasted the same. If I had to make an effort, I would say it smelled a little bit of candy sugar and some very, very light grains, lightly sweet as well. I thought my tongue had died because I tasted nothing.

reddish body, big white fluffy head in the tulip, but it faded rather fast ...aroma was light tones of yeast, apple, and citrus...flavors are very mild...apple, hay,yeast...a little on the flat side and very thin texture...overall a pretty refreshing drink on a hot NC afternoon

On tap at Crew, Poughkeepsie. Had a sample to satisfy our curiosity. Sometimes curiousity does kill the cat. This beer poured light amber. The aroma was somewhat fruity and the taste didn’t offer much more. Unfortunatley this was a disappointing effort by Brooklyn.

Draft/growler from Party Town Florence, KY. Aroma yeast, and light floral. Flavor is strangely the same, with maybe, a candy sweetness to it. Like Shigadeyo said, it just doesnt set itself apart. Nevertheless; I like it. Simple but sweet, just like Spring baby.
