Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Color: Black as pitch. It’s actually opaque to all but extreme light. Gorgeous lacing. Aroma hits you over the head with chocolate, with a hint of spice I can’t describe. Anise? Creamy, but not overly thick in the mouth. The alcohol content is by no means hidden in that lingering aftertaste. This is quite good. Couldn’t drink it too often though!

On draft at multiple locations. My favourite beer. Rich, dark, chocolate, malty, deliciousness. A smidge "alcoholy sweet" on the finish, but understandable with it’s 10.6% ABV. Goes for approx $5 a pint- an incredible deal. Hoping next year’s version is just as good!

Bottle courtesy of hellbilly. Deep brown pour with a creamy wet head. Nice cocoa aroma, along with roasty malt and dark fruit. Flavor is slightly sweet and big on chocolate and roasted malt. A bit of alcohol on the finish. A very good brew. Thanks Josh!

12oz bottle from grape & gourmet. pours an oily, thick extremely dark brown with a thin, cocoa dust head and big lacing. aroma is great with dark chocolate, roasty malts, plum, figs, and licorice stick. flavor is excellent and beautifully complex. starts of with tastes of big chocolate, dark fruits like cherries and currants, and vanilla that transitions seamlessly into a big roasted malt and coffee finish. mouthfeel is smooth, creamy, and has just a hint of the 10% alcohol. overall, an excellent brew.

Pitch black with a large dark, beige head. Slightly metallic cocoa aromas along with irony coffee and deep prunes. It has some very nasal alcohol fumes also. Very rich, it doesn’t disguise its % well but what it gives you works well with the boozy richness. Deep and burnished. Very wintry and warming. Chocolate and coffee dominate. A little carbonated but deliciously thick and indulgent. This is a great beer but the alcohol is a little too apparent for me throughout the whole experience. I am also trying this as a ’Black Chocolate Stout Float’ with vanilla ice-cream as Garrett Oliver suggests in is book. Scratch that, I only have Cherries and Cream ice-cream, so here goes. The chocolate becomes more palpable, however, so does the alcohol content due to the foam. It really is rich and tasty though. The beer gives a great dryness to the finish and the ice-cream perks the whole thing up. Yummers. A good bit of cherry sweetness in the actual liquid really works wonders here! Richer and fleshier than originally.

A nice chocolate coffee aroma and black as night appearance. Flavor is a bitter dark chocolate meant to be savored. I consider this an excellent dessert beer.
