Bottle from The Cave, Glasgow. Black colour, dark brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and some dark fruits. Flavour of roasted coffee and chocolate. Alcohol noticable. Nice one.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep black with a very thin than head. Aroma is of sweet chocolate and alcohol. Pretty strong alcohol taste, that starts with a chololate taste and ends with roasted coffee tasting finish. Good and very drinkable.

On tap at World of Beer (Westchase). Pours deep black with thin tan head. Aroma is not too impressive, but does have some chocolate and mild dark fruit. Flavor is sweet and chocolately upfront, and finishes with slightly bitter and some warmth. Body is moderate, but nothing like some of the other motor oil like impy stouts. It’s actually fairly drinkable. Alcohol is present, but not overpowering and I would not guess it to be over 10%.

Draft @ Monster B’s, Stamford, CT. Black body with dark brown head. Chocolate flavor is actually an accent instead of being all in your face, which is nice. Very strong alcohol taste, which takes away from the smooth roasted malts. Very good.

Deep, black pour with a gigantic chocolate nose. Almost flat. Tastes very filtered, but lots of chocolate and coffee. Suprisingly not complex. Palate is thick and full, alcohol hot in the finish. It’s bad ass, yes, but you could do so much better.

Solid offering but not quite as complex as some of the other imperial stouts out there. It is in fact black, with a small brown head, but I wanted to see a little more chocolate. Roasty coffee-ish aroma with a hint of chocolate. Alcohol hits you like a sack of bricks at the finish. Palate was decently full but I would like a little more. Not bashing it though, it’s a hell of a beer overall.

12 oz. bottle from Meadows party store in Livonia, MI. This pours a very dark brown(almost black) with almost no head. Given the name, I was expecting a little more chocolate flavor, but it was still really good. Lots of roasty malts, and coffee on the nose as well as flavor. I would say this is a top notch stout, being a perfect rendition of the style in flavor, mouthfeel , and aroma. Cheers!

Bottled. Pours inky black, with a dark brown, persistant head leaving a nice amount of lace on the glass. Nose is roasty, coffee, chocolate. Flavor is roasted, malty, coffee, bittersweet chocolate with a nicely hoppy finish ending in a hint of the alcohol behind all of the flavor.
