This beer pours black with a thin tan head. The aromas are chocolate, coffee and vanilla bean. The flavors are dark chocolate and roasted coffee. This is a scrumptious stout! Go grab one. Now! I’ll wait.... Cheers!

pours jet black with a nice little ice cream cone colored head that fades slowly with time. smells of raisins, prunes and other dried fruits. heavy on alcohol from the nose also. tastes like bitter black coffee, dark malts, obviously chocolate, and roasty. as it goes down you dont taste the alcohol per se, but it does tingle the gums and throat a little and that bitter black coffee transforms into a smooth mocha taste. overall a very complex and delicious brew.

Roasted malts, hay/toast and chocolate. Tiny leather aroma and basement/attic aroma. Smells of wood and wet rock. Pitch black,nice chocolate brown head but fading fast. Light bitter with a certain acidity building a light sweetness. A full body, with chocolate tastes on the back of the palate. Light fizzy. At first thin but fast building into an oily slick texture. A long and full flavoured finish. A very well balanced hiddenly strong stout. Very appealing.

Bottle courtesy of Pflug. We drank it while he slept. Very dark pour. Smells of apple juice and dark malts. Taste has heavy bitter malts. Not fantastic but flavorful.

Pours black into the glass with a brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and dark raisins. Flavor is alcoholic with roasted grain bitterness and chocolate. Body is thin. Good beer, but the body is too thin for me to give it an excellent rating.

Bottle thanks to Pflug. Almost a black pour with a small brown head. Big chocolate smell, with some boozy dark fruit. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, alcohol.

12 oz pours as dark brown and one can get without being called black. Very small head. the high ABV is well hidden. Complex malt taste very good rest exceptionally well on the palate. A bit bitter chocolate which suits the dark color. I don’t taste the coffee as others state but a great brew

Bottle at the Bloomington Beer Festival. Poured black with a thick brown head that dissipated slowly. Aroma was full of dark bitter chocolate notes with a bit of coffee for an undertone. Flavor had a pleasant sweet yet bitter chocolate flavor with undertone of roasted malts and coffee.
