Maria (4380), Thisted, Denmark Feb 1, 2007 This is one of my favourites - powerful and yet smooth. It’s pitch black and has a nice tall and creamy head. It’s also good cold, but as it warms up it gets even more complexity. The aroma has clear chocolate notes and the flavour has notes of dark fruits, coffee and dark, bitter chocolate, and the finish has a nice bitterness. A powerful, and very nice stout.
The_Captain (331), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2008 KSBF 08- Black pour with a tan foam head. Dark chocolate and cocoa aroma. Dark roast and full bodied of the style. Malt rich and sense the ABV. Some bitterness towards the finish. Great Stout but not a huge fan of the dark chocolate notes. Still a good drinker. xpimptastikx (23), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 7, 2008 Thanks to lb4lb.
Pours pure black with a small tan head. Tastes of bittersweet cocoa with roasted oats and coffee. kempicus (192), Wellington, New Zealand Oct 6, 2008 Tried thanks to Poperinge! What a beer, the inspiration for me to brew my own imperial stout....turned out well but not nearly as good as this! This is an awesome beer, massive chocolate and dark fruit goodness with a hint of smoke! kegbear (103), Orange, California, USA Oct 6, 2008 Bottle 2007. Pours a dark black with small light brown head. Aroma of bitter chocolate and coffee. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Some alcohol present. Very nice. Chia (25), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Oct 3, 2008 pours quarter in dark tan head. Looks like interminable darkness. Aroma is full of toasty oats and chocolate with undertones of coffee. Flavor is robust and full off chocolate and roasty toasty oats and coffee.
