Bottle (12oz). Poured oily dark brown-black with a huge foamy-creamy lasting brown head - lacing, even! Dark chocolate aroma, some hops, heavily roasted malt, some mushroomy notes, even table cream and a hint of sour fruits. Taste is very bitter chocolate, some anise, stewed prunes and raisins, hop bitterness evolves, but still quite dark malt-sweet - hint of dairy (cheese? cream?) and pinecone. Finishes with a chocolate/coffee bitter note, but still very balanced. Mouthfeel lovely creamy smooth, medium body, hides the alcohol completely. Great stout - so easy to drink, for once I was WANTING a bomber of a stout ... highly recommended.

Oct 11, 2008 Pours midnight black with ruby red light making it through only at the edges. Thick cappuccino-colored head that fades to leave persistent lacing. The aroma is of dark chocolate. The alcohol comes through in the aroma. There’s also a slight dark fruit, sherry like aroma on the nose. Fine dark chocolate comes through in the flavor, along with some expresso. Mouthfeel is very smooth and full of body

Oct 7, 2008 KSBF 08- Black pour with a tan foam head. Dark chocolate and cocoa aroma. Dark roast and full bodied of the style. Malt rich and sense the ABV. Some bitterness towards the finish. Great Stout but not a huge fan of the dark chocolate notes. Still a good drinker.

Oct 6, 2008 Tried thanks to Poperinge! What a beer, the inspiration for me to brew my own imperial stout....turned out well but not nearly as good as this! This is an awesome beer, massive chocolate and dark fruit goodness with a hint of smoke!

Oct 6, 2008 Bottle 2007. Pours a dark black with small light brown head. Aroma of bitter chocolate and coffee. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Some alcohol present. Very nice.
