Commercial Description:
Barrel-aged in Woodford Reserve bottles. Brooklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a robust stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. Supposedly, "Black Ops" was aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oak notes. They say there are only 1000 cases. We have no idea what they’re talking about.

Big thanks to Ken for sharing this bottle! Pours black with a light tan head. Smell is roasty malt and light alcohol. Taste is cocoa with sweetness and dark chocolate. Somewhat dry finish. Medium to thin body for an imperial stout, I thought and a touch more carbonated than ideal, but not too distracting. Perhaps this is from the champagne yeast used. Definitely enjoyable, but a touch sweeter and thinner bodied than I was hoping for.

Bottle, thanks to WeeHeavySD for sharing it! Pours a deep black with a small tan head. Rich aroma, of toasted malt, a lot of woodiness, coffee, bourbon. Taste also has a lot of wood, with toasted malt, bourbon and chocolate notes. Lingering burnt wood flavors. Very tasty.

750 ml, thanks to lithy for sharing this one. Opaque with a lasting disc of foam that leaves sticky deposits on the glass. Aromas of caramel, chocolate and cookie dough. Flavors of espresso, alcohol, dark chocolate, vanilla and raisins. Medium-heavy body is watery, roasty-dry and a little too fizzy.

Huge Thanks to Sprinkle for the beer. Of course black thick pour with huge bourbon smell. Taste was nice chocoltae and bourbon. Boubon wasn’t too over powering but subtle taste was smooth and some bitter tase as well which I liked. Nice beer

nearbeer’s Spring Cleansin’. Sample from a bottle shared by me thanks to mcbackus. Pitch black pour with a thick dark tan head. Big nice bourbon aroma, a bit of smoke, chocolate. Taste is smooth creamy body with bourbon smoke thinning it out, chocolate and roast body hold it up.

Bottle. Pours opaque with an average, fizzy, dark brown head, mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, molasses), average hops (perfume), average yeast (dough, leather) with notes of alcohol, prune, dates, toffee, and vanilla. Full bodied, creamy texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, heavy sweetness and acidity, moderate bitterness.
