Commercial Description:
Barrel-aged in Woodford Reserve bottles. Brooklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a robust stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. Supposedly, "Black Ops" was aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oak notes. They say there are only 1000 cases. We have no idea what they’re talking about.

750 ml. bottle. Wow, quite possibly the greatest beer I have ever had. It is almost like Black Chocolate Stout was put on oak steroids. It is midnight dark in color with a deep cocoa colored head. The aroma is bourbon oak, sweet cocoa, and espresso. Flavor is sweet, with notes of vanilla, creamy caramel, oak, and sweet chocolate. The body is full, and one should take care to not rush this beer. Sit back, relax, sip, and enjoy.

Pour was pitch black, ok tan colored head, par for the course. The aroma was roasty bourbon. The flavor was more of an ashy smokey bourbon with some coconuts, vanilla, faint wood/oak, and chocolate under it all. The bourbon was tamed enough to not take over the whole beer. The base beer seemed uninspiring, though, not even close to the level of awe at which the Black Choco stands. Mouthfeel was fairly full bodied but well-carbonated to keep it pretty "light," relatively speaking.

Blackish color with a nice roasty/bourbon/vanilla/chocolate aroma. Flavor has some gentle bourbon and roast with vanilla, coffee, and cream. Overall a good beer, but I think this could have beetn better. Very mono-dimensional on with the bourbon aging and failed to improve on the BCS base.

This is a great beer. The Woodford flavor really comes to the front and blends nice with the chocolate. Some coffee notes and vanilla coming through as well. Just a slight oak presence and alcohol warmth coming from the bourbon which seems to dominate but not over powering. Great if you can find one GRAB IT!

Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of toasted, dark chocolate, strong coffee, moderate hops and yeast notes of resin and earth, with hints of tar, licorice and bourbon. Head is between frothy and creamy, light brown has good lacing with good legs and is fully lasting. Color is black. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and bitter, and a touch salty and sour. Palate is full, creamy and has a lively carbonation. A powerful and complex Imperial Stout, easily one of my favorites

Bottle pours oily black with tan head. Aroma is oak, vanilla, and subtle notes of bourbon. Perhaps a touch of yeast. Medium mouthfeel with too much carbonation for the style. Flavor is really boozy. This is way too hot right now. Behind the alcohol is a nice balance of chocolate malt, oak, vanilla, bourbon, and some hop notes. Overall a nice brew. I’d like to age one for a while and maybe check it a year or so from now.

Rich black body adorned with a brown crown. Subdued oak aromatics waft from the glass, intermingling with vanilla, chocolate and delightful doses of roasty bourbon. Incredibly well-balanced for such a puissant brew. Rich chocolate flavors with dizzying, fuzzy esters, touches of oak, bourbon, and vanillin. Complex and roasty. Superbly integrated. Love it!

750ml bottle, with thanks to beastiefan2k for the hookup! Pours a nice dark black with a large foamy darker tan head. Aroma is rich milk chocolate, vanilla, oak, espresso; a nicely blended nose. Flavor is more milk chocolate, espresso, vanilla, oak, and light bourbon. Overall this is a nice barrel aged IS but nothing that makes it a real standout, thanks again Eugene!
