Subdued oak aromatics waft from the glass, intermingling with vanilla, chocolate and delightful doses of roasty bourbon. Incredibly well-balanced for such a puissant brew. Rich chocolate flavors with dizzying, fuzzy esters, touches of oak, bourbon, and vanillin. Complex and roasty. Superbly integrated. Love it! mreusch (743), Olathe, Kansas, USA

Overall this is a nice barrel aged IS but nothing that makes it a real standout, thanks again Eugene! after4ever (2806), Brier, Washington, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2009 The aroma, when cold, is very ether-like. Pours black with a thin, brown head that cascades after the initial pour. Nose is a strong cigar like malt flavor with lots of bourbon flavor. Lots of coffee, oak and vanilla notes in this beer. Finishes dry and clean. VikingHammer (363), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA

Astringent finish was of average duration. Sweet to a light bitterness. Overall a nice beer. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
