Commercial Description:
Barrel-aged in Woodford Reserve bottles. Brooklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a robust stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. Supposedly, "Black Ops" was aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oak notes. They say there are only 1000 cases. We have no idea what they’re talking about.

Rich black body adorned with a brown crown. Subdued oak aromatics waft from the glass, intermingling with vanilla, chocolate and delightful doses of roasty bourbon. Incredibly well-balanced for such a puissant brew. Rich chocolate flavors with dizzying, fuzzy esters, touches of oak, bourbon, and vanillin. Complex and roasty. Superbly integrated. Love it!

750ml bottle, with thanks to beastiefan2k for the hookup! Pours a nice dark black with a large foamy darker tan head. Aroma is rich milk chocolate, vanilla, oak, espresso; a nicely blended nose. Flavor is more milk chocolate, espresso, vanilla, oak, and light bourbon. Overall this is a nice barrel aged IS but nothing that makes it a real standout, thanks again Eugene!

750. Thanks, Homebrew! Jet black. Loose swirly burnt tan head. Big fruity perfumey chocolatey nose--esters of plum and prune under the chocolate. Creamy medium body. Coffee, chocolate, prunes, and some vanilla, bourbon on the mid-palate. Long chocolatey finish.

Bottle. Shared with friends. aint that the best? this is a good one, takes the black choco stout up a notch. what did you expect? a smaller version? nope. it’s bigger. think black choco stout but bigger. you can picture it, right? then you don’t need me explaining all those cute little flavors. its monotonous. ya dig?

Thanks to mgumby and bconley for sharing their bottles. Pours black. Aroma is pretty hot. Lots of alcohol and chocolate. Flavor isn’t nearly as strong as the smell. Flavor is mellow and filled with chocolate. Hops, wood and bourbon also come through. Very good, and complex, flavor.

The aroma, when cold, is very ether-like. Pours black with a thin, brown head that cascades after the initial pour. Nose is a strong cigar like malt flavor with lots of bourbon flavor. Lots of coffee, oak and vanilla notes in this beer. Finishes dry and clean.

Bottle. Beautiful looking beer. pours motor oil black with a huge frothy light brown head. Excellent lacing on a tulip glass. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, caramel, alcohol and some burnt malts. Medium bodied that sometime appeared thin in the mouth feel. Astringent finish was of average duration. Sweet to a light bitterness. Overall a nice beer.

Bottle courtesy of my awesome fantasy football ability, er MaxxDaddy. Color me super suprised and speechless when I opened this winning box. Any rate, on to the beer. Pour black with a huge, thick chocolate head. Nose is bourbon, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is is chocolaty bourbon with roasted coffee, slight caramel and bitter. Decent mouth feel. A very nice impy stout.
