tomthompson89 (1459), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 8, 2009 on Tap at coles hazy light yellowis body with white foam, nose is grassy and fresh, sweet like mango and some resinis pine. flavor is sweet and dry odd as it sounds so well done Leighton (234), New York, New York, USA Oct 19, 2009 Had a sample at the Great World Beer Festival. Big beer here. Strong hop aroma, notes of pine. Taste is lightly tangy and bitter, like grapefruit. Finish is clean. CUJO (339), Brooklyn, New York, USA Oct 11, 2009 Chelsea Cask Festival: Pours slight cloudy, yellow copper/ orange amber. Strong nose of young fruits and citrus, slightly metallic. The fruits and citrus come back in the taste enhanced with warming esters. The hops are much more noticeable on the finish... a very surprising and complex brew, changing from front to back. Would really like to try this on tap as well. tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Oct 9, 2009 Cask Festival at Chelsea Pier. The pour was a hazy orange color. The Aroma was nice, peaches, grapefruit, other citrus, excellent. The flavor was citrus, grapefruit, caramel, toffee, excellenrt balance between sweet and bitter. The finish was a rsiny hop flavor not noticeable previously. Medium mouthfeel, thin for the style. Very Good overall. TeamTrappist (364), jericho, New York, USA Oct 8, 2009 Tap at Brooklyn bowl. Poured a cloudy golden amber. Grassy and hoppy nose. Very smooth. Nicely hopped with a sweet and then bitter finish. ben4321 (957), Rockville, Maryland, USA Sep 17, 2009 Location: Cask at Rattle ’N’ Hum, 9/13/09
Part of the Gotham Cask Festival
Aroma: Sweet grapefruit & juicy citrus hops, some pine, and yeast
Appearance: Nice golden color, white head
Flavor: Yeasty malts up-front, big hoppy flavor in the middle and end palates
Palate: Smooth, drinks nicely, and a nice mouthfeel
Overall Impression:
I thought this beer was really nice. Got a really juicy citrus/grapefruit nose straight from the cask, and I really just liked the way it drank and tasted quite a bit. Big, but not huge, hop flavor for a IIPA. A nicely crafted beer.
mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA Aug 24, 2009 Drank on tap at the Brooklyn Brewery with Tim Dziubek.
Blast is a hazy yellow ale with a developed off-white head. The aroma is full of bitter hops and the flavor has notes of citrus. This beer was more bitter than I was looking for and would have been more enjoyable with food.
