Aroma of vanilla, dough, diactyl, caramel and a bit of citrus. Taste was on the sweeter side, buttery popcorn, toffee malts, light dough, and woody hops. I’m assuming the butteriness was intentional, but I thought it left this overall sticky. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 5, 2007 On tap at HDG. Smells like vanilla andpopcorn. Not the best of starts. The taste is of unmilled malts. I like this beer especially the subtly of the use of the hop. Arayaga2 (970), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 3, 2007 Clear golden ale with thin, dense white head. Aroma is metallic and uriney. Taste has a bit of that metal, but also a sweet diacetyl flavor that mixes with biscuity malt in a way that mimics a buttered baguette. Lingering nastiness on tongue after finish brings me back to the days when I used to eat thermometers like pixie sticks. It’s not that good, but at least it’s interesting. $2.50/16draft swoopjones (1915), Buffalo, New York, USA

Some citrusy, grassy-weedy taste. Medium hop character with prety sharpe bite. Not very impressed with one NJBeerman013 (778), Trenton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 27, 2007 Tap at Brooklyn Brewery. Strong golden in color with a white lacy head. The aroma is very citrusy with a big hoppyness. There is a big hop character to the flavor with a strong bite. It is a really good example of a strong ale in my opinion. blatantdream (78), New York, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 24, 2007 Cask at the Brazen Head - Pours an opaque golden yellow color with a fluffy white head. Citrusy characteristics with a nice grassy bitter hop dry finish. Pretty easy to drink but nothing too unique about it. A decent beer for a warmer fall day.
On tap at David Copperfields - Colder I guess. Not much of a difference from the cask. They were both good. The alcohol flavor was less apparent on tap however. nhorween (640), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 22, 2007 Tap. I thought they brought me the wrong beer because this just tastes like an overly hopped lager to me. Totally unimpressive. Finish is metallic and hits me in the saddle of my tongue, which is gross. Not a fan, but if they’d have called it a lager I probably would’ve given it better marks. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 14, 2007 Draught at Waterfront, Bklyn. Poured an unimpressive pale gold with a spitty head. Grassy, vegetal, and lightly minty aroma with some appley fruitiness. Wafery malt flavor with a leafy/twiggy underpinning and some buttery notes. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Not overly terrible, but I was hoping for something a lot better from the "Brewmaster Series."
