Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

Pours deep brown with tan head. Toasted malt aroma, caramel and hops. Flavors of caramel and chocolate with mild hoppiness. Medium body with average carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel.

This is a tasty brew with a complex palate. Somewhat hoppy, but with very hard to pinpoint notes of other unusual tastes of chocolate, black malts, with fruit(s), etc. Probably the best beer of the night.

Bottle, Rehills, Newcastle upon Tyne. The intense hoppiness of this beautiful, chocolate brown beer hit me immediately, along with the citrusy tang of grapefruit, in the taste. Chocolate creeps in, mid-drink and the citrus becomes reasonably predominant. The head poured thick and off-white. I’ve had this before I started doing ratings and had forgotten how good it was. Three of their bottled beers are regularly available here in the UK, wish there was more. Truly excellent.

Bottle. Body-very dark brown with a touch of very thick ring of bubbles. Fresh tobacco, leather, smells like a Brown Ale. Wow. Brown Ale. American Amber and Brown Ales-two styles that should be done away with for the common good of man. Taste-better than the nose, cinnamon, mace, chewing tobacco, chestnuts, dry barn flavor, a very slight hint of baker’s chocolate, lemon/lime. Good for a Brown Ale, but that isn’t exactly a compliment.

Draft pours medium brown with a white head. Great brown bread and slight chocolate aroma. Medium body with some roast and chocolate again. Quite smooth. Not bitterness at all.

Bottle from Vanessa. Oaky brown body with thin tan head. Hoppy nose. Crisp mouthfeel. Also fruits in the flavour. Chocolate totally unidentifiable but some warming coffee notes in the finish. Long-lasting and siky finish.

Beautiful mahogany color, slight head settles to a bit of lacing. Creamy and pretty substantial mouthfeel. Nice hoppiness, crisp, and very delicious.

Not bad at all! Watered down a little, but the hint of coffee makes up for it.
