| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Pours a transparent brownish ruby color with a medium tan head. Aromas of toasty malt. Very thin body, almost watery in consistency, with small sharp bubbles. Finishes with a little bit of hops, but otherwise rather dull in the finish. Seems a middle of the road brown – something I wouldn’t be sad about drinking again, but I doubt I’d choose it over anything decent looking that I’ve never had before. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Strong chocolate with slight roast in the nose, slightly astringent. Deep rich ruby color with light brown, minimal head that leaves little lacing. smoooth taste that starts full and creamy and fades to coffee, finishing smooth. A decent brown ale, but not enough hop character to be an american version and not enough backbone to be an english version. good job on the complexity, would just like a little more malt backbone lending a toasted, biscuit type of character.
