Aug 24, 2007 Brown/chestnut with decent head. A bit hoppy for a brown ale with kicks of roasted coffee, chocolate and nuts. Creamily bodied and robust this brew has a piney, floral fortitufe belying its lingering sweetness. Not bad, but certainly not the best brown out there.

Clear brown color with good and abundant head even if of fast passing. Sweetish and decidedly dry aroma with notes of dried malt and sweetens cereals. Round and soft taste with an overbearing bitter only manifested on the end. Good persistence with woody and burned resin aromas.

Aug 20, 2007 Pours a dark, dark amber rather than brown, with a minimal head and a tiny bit of lacing. Very faint medium-biscuit aroma, like a digestive cookie. Excellent flavour - nutty and rich and sweet without being so sweet as to require heaps of hops. Sadly, the lack of hops affords this beer only the briefest of an aftertaste. The carbonation doesn’t assert itself until after you’ve sipped, at which point you get a nice creamy body as you swallow. A bit thin. This is an excellent brown but it needs a bit of attention, and is probably much better on-tap.

Aug 17, 2007 brown red. small head. smells hoppy with malts and other sweet scents. tastes a little better than new castle. Not as roasted as i like. Alright brown ale.

Aug 14, 2007 12 oz. bottle: Pours a mahogany brown with a thin light brown head that diminishes quickly. Malty aroma has hints of chocolate and caramel. Roasty flavor brings out the coffee and chocolate with a creamy texture and smooth finish. Nice hop balance and delicious.

Aug 11, 2007 Pours a dark brown colour with some ruby red when you hold it to the light and no head. Aroma of carmalized malts with notes of chocolate. Flavour is lighter then expected, sweet malty base, and a bitter/sour finish, a bit thin. Not very interesting, but not bad. I think I expected more from this beer, the the brooklyn lager was awsome.
