Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

Presentation: It was poured from brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. On the label there is a best before date. Appearance: The body has a dark mahogany color with a light tan head on top. The head quickly fades down to just a ring on bubbles around the edge of the glass. The lacing is mostly slick and slides down the glass with just a little bit sticking to the glass. Smell: The aroma sweet with hints of roasted and toasted malt. Taste/Mouth Feel: Up front the flavor has a nice sweet bready malt with hints of roasted barley, caramel and toffee. The hop flavor is mellow but adds very good balance to the finish. It has a big round and smooth texture with soft carbonation and a solid medium to full body. Notes: Over all this is one very tasty brown Ale.

12 oz bottle. Pours mahogany with long lasting off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts, bread and brown sugar. Light to medium body. Flavor of earthy hops that are balanced by sweet fruity malt. Some coffee and citrusy notes are in the background. Finish is long well balanced and pleasant. One of my favorite browns.

bottle at Crowbar in Ybor City in Tampa. aroma is nutty and citrusy. flavor is somewhat dark chocolate bittery with roasted nuts, and for some reason a little bit of bitter citrus rind on the palette. pretty good, but there are better browns out there.

Big thanks to JoeMcPhee. Dark mahogany-brown pour, moderate beige head. Aroma of fruity malts, leaning towards cherries. Flavor somewhere between brown ale and porter, decided chocolate malt presence, just a little bit nutty, something of a sour cherry presence. Hops are there, aromatic, bitter, but secondary to the malts, decided orange zest bite. A bit of cinnamon spiciness throughout. Nicely harmonized in all its parts.

Not a huge fan of brown ales, but this one was pretty good. Very smooth. Dark tan pour with a hazel colored head.

Pours dark brown, light tan head. Light shines through, color appears a nice mahogany under the light. Bubbles rise to the top quickly. Nothing to complain about. As for the smell - take this as a compliment or a detraction (your call), but it smells a lot like Newcastle Brown Ale. It smells good, but not terribly complex. Definite nut tones. The beer goes down smooth and sweet. Not much hop bitterness...but then again, you wouldn’t really expect that. It’s just a nutty, sweet flavor. I could drink a ton of these. Mouthfeel is a bit fizzy...meh. Overall....Is this a beer to write home about? No. Is this a good, reasonably-priced, readily-available (around here at least) session beer? Hell yes. It’s a great session beer, and something that my swill-drinking friends would enjoy too.

this pours an actual mahogany brown color just like the bottle stated it would! it also has a light brown/tan head but the stupid bottle couldn’t predict that!... it smells of coffee, caramel creams, nuts, malt, pine-like hops and something weird...slightly tart. the flavor is a bit one dimensional or at least it doesn’t change... buttery caramel creams, milk chocolate, toasted brown sugar covered nuts and a coffee aftertaste. it is thin to medium-light bodied, prickly and sharp. 6/4/6/3/14/3.3

.355L bottle, small light quickly diminishing head, clear brown colour with deep red taints, aroma of american hopps with notes of light roasted coffee and some malt.quite dry with the same hoppy traits continuing and a touch of caramel, The finish is also hop dominated and medium long. Too much hops to my liking.
