zootfinster (151), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 30, 2007 Updated: Nov 11, 2007 Nice dark color with a medium tan head. Lots of Malty chocolate flavor with a very pleasant lasting finish but too hoppy for a brown ale. Still a nice beer.
jkaiser (50), USA Jul 14, 2008 Wow! Very nice. Lacing good. Head good. Chocolate color. Not complex. Best part is the flavor of chocolate and coffee that hits you on the back side. Next to now bitterness. Beautiful aroma of complex malts. Winner winner chicken dinner! satan165 (67), River Grove, Illinois, USA Jul 12, 2008 the numerous malts make themselves known in the appearance which is dark even for a brown. not as sweet as some browns, or as sweet as i expected based upon the beer and breweries reputation. this is much more tolerable with a more rounded flavor that doesnt present an excess of sweet/sour, its actually well balanced and refreshing for the style. despite its low ABV, there seems to be a hit of unhidden booze that makes itself known late in the taste, its a welcome and interesting addition, and a further spin on the style garrett oliver has conjured up as a tribute to the drinker. mikkopen (88), Oulu, Finland Jul 12, 2008 355 ml bottle. Deep reddish brown colour, medium light beige head. Roasted malts, nuts and floral hops in the aroma. Roasted flavour with some chocolate and a bittersweet hoppy finish. Another tasty beer from Brooklyn Brewery. coldbrewky (456), Saugerties, New York, USA Jul 12, 2008 Draft w/lunch today at a kingston BBQ pit. Light nose of malts comes of moderatly carbonated brown ale in shaker glass. Body is light to medium and just a tad watery. creamy body ends with a nutty mellow hop finish. arventresca (125), Greenville, North Carolina, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours brown with a reddish hint. Smell of rosted malt and hint of chocolate. Taste is much the same with a nutty aftertaste. Good brown here.
